Ehrr... you do know that V is set in LS, right? There's nothing wrong with that city IMO.
The question could be "What would be the best GTA VI destination"... and then I would answer Vice City. It's the most likely to be picked... that, or Las Venturas.

But, I would really like to see a GTA set in a San Diego look-like city, or even Detroit (lots of car companies there, yeah). That would be so awesome...

Australia would be pretty cool as long as they include a couple of the cities and a pretty big outback with regional towns and bushland too

As much as I'd like to see a GTA-style game set in Rio or Sao Paolo.. I'm pretty damn sure the series is going to stick to the three US areas we already know. All Rockstar ever does is to spoof iconic US culture. It's what the top level folks like the Housers are into. Whether that's westerns or noir cinema, hiphop culture, 80s miami... they are extremely predictable. I don't mind, cause it seems they're into what I'm into and not into what I'm not into (Dragonbrain)

I was honestly not surprised when they announced Los Santos for V. Vice City without the 80s time period doesn't have the same appeal and the 80s retro thing is done to death.
I think maybe the first next gen GTA will be Vice City and the surrounding area (everglades, swamp smugglers FTW!)
