£311.86 from Ebuyer.com (UK), ex-Display model, so will be marked down. But some questions for you to clarify things a little for us.

Why choose that one in particular to ask us about?
What is your budget?
What is your current spec of your computer to see if it will handle it?
I'm presuming GTA:IV since that is the most current game as this is GTAForums, if not clarify what game or games you are wanting to upgrade for?

Also the physical size of the monitor doesn't make a much of a difference. until you get to monitors with go above either 1080 or 1600x1200, then if might a little, so any graphics card would be fine with a 21.5 inch (which would probably be a 1080 HD monitor)

Because i think it can handle all games including gta 4 at maximum setting.
As of now, i don't have the budget and i want to check the price first.
Processor: Intel Core i7-2600, 3.40GHz
Memory: 8GB RAM
Display: AMD Radeon HD 6670 2GB
PSU: 300W
Like Dota 2, Max Payne, GTA 4, The other reason why i want to change my graphic card is that i always get stuttering every second in GTA 4 T_T

It should run fairly decent with what you have, however I do think that if you are getting stuttering performance playing games, then it could be to do with the fact your Graphics Card isn't getting enough power as the Radeon 6670 requires at least a 400w PSU, 500w recommended for dual-screening, so if you've only got a 300w PSU then it's not getting enough juice.

I would hazard a guess that if you upgraded your PSU then you should see a better performance right away with what you've got. You would also need to upgrade your PSU anyway should choose to upgrade your Graphics Card as 300w is never going to be enough for Graphics cards that supersede the Radeon 6670.

But yes a 600w - 700w PSU would be fine. When choosing your PSU, make sure that it has all the right connectors on which match the components you have.

This little picture will help you when it comes to looking one up

Not really, since GPU manufacturers always overstate how powerful PSU is needed for graphics card. HD6670 could be powered by a decent 200W PSU without any problems.

you will be pleased to know after doing some digging that this is the exact same card i had on my pre-built system i brought from Currys. The system is pretty much the same as yours except i have an I5 3ghz processor. The standard PSU that was running on the system was a 450watt one and i still experienced these hangs you speak of. GTAIV was unplayable for me i think my average FPS was 12FPS.

The main problems with the card was the core clock speed. It was low i think it was 525MHZ or there abouts and the DDR3 memory although the memory speed was 800mhz it is bottle-necked by the core clock speed. I did a series of tests and found upping the Core clock speed gave me smoother fps but the card would crash after about 3 seconds of gameplay.

That then led me to the ASUS EAH6850 Directcu 1gb DDR5 card. ( http://www.maplin.co.uk/asus-amd-radeon-hd...ics-card-536869 )

£159

It has a core clock of 795mhz
and a memory clock of 1000mhz

My average fps with GTAIV is now 54fps+

i coupled it with a new 880wattPSU ( http://www.maplin.co.uk/880w-g7-atx-psu-393047 )

£69

as well as a new case Due to the old case had the Graphics card fan basically sitting on bottom of the case.

It's been able to handle every game ive thrown at it apart from DEus ex Human revolution, But i beleive its a coding problem with the game according to the steam forums!

O and yes i do have maxpayne3 and it runs fine smile.gif

The "PSU" you linked to shouldn't be even called a PSU. It's a pure pile of sh*t. Its parameters are nowhere near what ATX specifications allow, internal build quality is beyond awful, and it doesn't really have 880W. In other words, it's just dangerous to use.

My friends was a decent 1000watt one and i believe it was named he picked it himself! I use the word Decent loosely, I simply linked to that one as i'm sure that it will power the card and the rest of the components as it is the one i brought, Obviously its down to the individual on what PSU you use or buy i was simply working on the fact he has a budget, and you cant get more budget than a company's own brand of PSU.

you could provide some links that you would recommend instead of being all negative yojo!

For about £70 there are many good PSUs to choose from, like OCZ ZT 550W/650W, XFX Core 650W/750W, Corsair TX V2 650W, Be Quiet! L8-CM-530/630... all of these are much better that that noname 880W, and they can really deliver their power while staying in ATX spec. I bet that this G7 880W won't be able to output more power than any of those units.

Not to mention that recommending a 880W PSU for a HD6850 sounds a bit ridiculous. Even 400W would be more than necessary.

But the graphics card isn't the only thing that requires power in a PC. wink.gif

True, but with 400W PSU there would be headroom left even for a highly overclocked FX-8120 CPU, and all the stuff like mobo, HDDs, etc... the HD6850 alone consumes only about 100W.

True, but still 880W is overkill. Even if he ever considered CFX when upgrading, he'll need 600-700W tops.

A proper 550W PSU would be enough to power PC with i7-3770k/FX-8150 + HD7970/GTX680, both after high OC. More power would be necessary only for OCing dual GPU cards like GTX690.

all i know is this is the stats and it runs fine, the reason i brought a high wattage one was to make sure the Graphics card was not under-powered! My friend before he brought his blown up one made that mistake at first and i didn't want to make the same mistake!

anyway this is the gameplay i get on GTAIV now!

And you fell for a trap that many of the bad PSU manufacturers set up. This PSU can't deliver 880W without breaking the ATX spec (which might, and most probably will lead to damaging the PC's components), blowing up, or - in the best case - shutting itself down.
Your friend's PSU blew up because it was designed using only the cheapest components, end of story. This wouldn't happend on a good quality PSU even if it had much lower wattage.

Well i'l keep you posted on the status of cheap psu. Iv'e had 6 months use out of it so far without a problem! and i'm not exactly a light user of the PC. Even if it does go wrong i'm looking for all new components towards Christmas anyway. the only thing im going to re-use is the case probably!
