I downloaded the GTA Complete Edition off Steam a few days ago, but I have only installed GTA IV and the Episodes. All three worked perfectly up until today. When the game reaches the menu where you choose either TLAD or TBoGT, everything is normal. When you select TBoGT, it loads perfectly fine right up until the point where it has nearly finished loading, and then it crashes to the desktop without any error message, only the usual 'Windows is searching for a solution to the problem'. The Lost and Damned however, works completely fine - even with the exact same mods installed as TBoGt. There is nothing obvious that seems to be causing the problem as all of the mods I have installed work correctly on the Lost and Damned. I really don't want to re-install the game! Are there any possible solutions for fixing this problem?
  • I am using Windows 7 64-bit
  • The only mods I have installed are several car mods (which all work correctly) and the Simple Trainer (which again worked correctly before this problem)

Any help or advice would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Umm, you have mods, which automatically leads me to ask you: have you tried running the game without mods? You may never trust mods to work perfectly and not affect your game. Try uninstalling those mods and see what happens.
Besides, you could also delete your game settings, maybe the game will work after that even with mods.

I'm sure it's nothing to do with mods, because TLAD works perfectly with exactly the same mods. No problems with it at all. Also, I played TBoGT for a few days with no mods and, again, there were no problems.

Just tried deleting my settings, and it still crashed.

Install a second copy of EFLC onto another location and run TBogt. There won't be mods and see if a clean install works. When troubleshooting, you must eliminate all potential factors no matter how dumb they seem...

If you've got a problem and you're using mods, the problem is the mods - no questions. These problems belong in Editing Troubleshooting. If you've got a problem and you 'know' it's not the mods ( rolleyes.gif yawn.gif ), uninstall the mods and ask for help then, and only then. Don't waste our time by posting issues with modded games! All modding discussions should be directed this-a-way.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Here is a quote from the Pinned Troubleshooting topic, as posted by a Moderator to prove otherwise about modifications...especially on Steam, as Steam can be more picky about mods than the DVD(Retail) version....The "This a way" part at the end is normally the link to the Modding Forums...

So, Un-install ALL mods and play the game WITHOUT mods and see if problem persists-since mods tend to use more system resources with the more you have, it is quite possible your system is too weak to run that many mods...besides, the game was not designed to be played with mods in the first place...With that being said:

What is the Processor?
What is the Processor Speed?
What is the RAM?
What is the Video card?
How much Vram?
How much vram is Dedicated?
How Much TOTAL VRAM?
Do you have the latest update installed for Windows 7-which is SP1?

That will also help solve the problem, as it is part of the Pinned Requirements when posting a Troubleshooting topic...

nVIDIA GTX 460 1GB

As far as I know the latest update for Windows is installed.

@ radioman : man see no offense but each time , you post the same thing . whatever you say people in search for a solution will post fast and want to play fast , so that kind of post you make each time aren't much helpful

@ burntbiscuit376 : GTA IV , TBoGT and TLaD have their own vehicles/weapons , specific to each version so see what typical weapons/cars are included in TBoGT and see if you installed a mod on these

The only mod I installed that is specific to either game was smokey's Koenigsegg Agera. I replaced the Bullet GT with this mod. It worked fine, and I am certain that it is not the cause of my problems.

Also, TLAD has now stopped working too. Basically, using the simple trainer I spawned loads of attacking peds and the game froze. After that, it would not run. Is there a way to fix this without re-installing or removing all my mods if possible?

Thanks for all your advice so far.

EDIT: It turns out my save was corrupt. I deleted it and it works fine, with the same mods installed as before. I was right! tounge2.gif
