thank you!!!!!!!!!!!

Haha, I can't wait until GTA V comes out just so the IV hype will be diminished. Then we can unfairly compare it to IV, just like IV fans compare SA to IV.

I'm probably going to get flamed for this.

Bu there's no reason to compare SA to IV, SA is above IV.

How is it unfair? It's only unfair when comparing technical aspects such as graphics and physics which GTA IV wins by default. Everything else is justified.

Or is it alright for people to praise SA over GTA IV, but not the other way around?

We all have our own opinion. If everyone thought SA was above GTA IV the discussion on this forum would lack life and likewise if everyone thought of GTA IV in that way. The sometimes opposing views is what makes it interesting.

Let me put it this way.

If Rockstar evolved into the SA genre, we'd be playing a slightly more realistic Saints Row. Thankfully they went towards the VC approach, giving us a protagonist with brain cells and choices. GTA IV is a novel, whilst GTA SA is a children's book.

GTA is a game that's supposed to be focused on crime and crime only, that means murder, drug dealing, gangs, robberies, etc. SA would probably be my favorite GTA if it weren't for Toreno's and The Truth's missions in the Desert. That was just so out of place.

GTA SA is for the casual gamer, imo. An hour of explosions and jet flying will fill them up quickly. Takes patience to play VC, waiting for things to pick up, like in all other GTA's... GTA SA was made for the general gamer. I just pretend it doesn't exist, tbh.

IMO.NO GTA San Andreas had far more things to do rather than a few booms and a flying session. And I don't think San Andreas was made for casual gamers It was made for gamers who will play-and-love. smile.gif

No. The reason you 'love' GTA SA so much is the fact it IS action packed and full of meaningless sh*t. GTA SA was pretty easy, plus the fact it had the multiplayer feature made it fit into the 'pick-up and play' genre. It's a game you and Joe Schmoe would play late at night.

In my opinion San Andreas is the most overrated game in the GTA series. It has always been my least favorite GTA. I have my reasons for disliking SA.

1. The setting is not my thing. I don't like the whole street gang/"gangsta" crap. It just does NOT interest me. That alone made me have doubts about San Andreas.

2. CJ is a crappy protagonist. He took way too much crap from people like Tenpenny, he was kicked around for almost the entire game. If that had been Tommy Vercetti in CJ's place during many of those cutscenes with C.R.A.S.H, Tenpenny would been shot in the face. I did like Tenpenny as a villan, he was one of the redeeming factors of San Andreas.

3. A LOT of annoying missions. So many of the missions in San Andreas where not enjoyable, they where just frustrating and annoying. I don't play GTA to play some crappy DDR clone minigame.

Just a few of my gripes with San Andreas. Feel free to give your feedback.

gta san andreas is the best ever from gta series!!! vice, vcs, LC, Lcs, gta III-IV just waste of times playing those series i don't understand why r* have made those series anyway....LoL

How so? It wraps up quite well.

you start as a gangbanger and first part revolves around gangs and their rivalries, and all of a sudden that aspect dissappears and its completely forgotten

Graphics and physics is what I was refering to, but it goes further than that. On the other hand......

It may also be unfair to point out everything IV lacks because R* was busy building the game from the ground up, where as San Andreas already had an engine to run on so the additional features were easier to implement. The more we discuss it the more I realize it's an apples to oranges situation.

GTAIV - Story
GTAVC - Setting
GTA1 - Characters

Sorry, I have nothing for San Andreas. The story is too over-the-top and has no REAL goal throughout the missions. Plus, who's ever heard of a jet flying, FBI workman, artist manager, "gangsta" OG?

The setting is geographical inaccurate crap. "Oh lets throw in three cities and put empty countrysides and deserts between them." Seriously, it sucked. The worst of them all! Even III's LC map was better.

The characters are just cliches from 80's-90's movies. I hate the whole gangster theme, which made me hate Carl. Seriously, I hated them all.

Now if any of you little fanboys wanna bash me because I don't like your precious, inaccurate, crap of a game, go ahead. It's not gonna change my mind about this sh*tty cliched crap.

BTW, IV is WAAAAAAAAYYYYAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
YYYYYYYY better than SA!

You didn't pay attention to the storyline. If I had to guess, you didn't finish - or probably even play the game.

Suge Knight. Not only did he work with police authorities, they were on his payroll. Making Suge the boss.

No, those movies were inspired by the real life events of the Rampart scandal.

Actually San Andreas is the most historically correct GTA game to date. You are just a ignorant hater that brings nothing positive or productive to this discussion.

Yes, San Andreas is overrated.
The 'Gang Life' is not my kind of thing and the only thing I liked about it was the radio stations.
Vice City is my favourite!
I loved the Miami set map, the characters, the missions and the patience. It had a good story behind it.. and I like it when one game references another such as Sonny from Liberty City and the 'Hardwood Butcher', Tommy's nickname, Harwood referencing to Harwood in Liberty City.

Here we have a typical SA fanboy. sarcasm.gif

If it wasn't for GTA III and VC, SA wouldn't exist you tool.

DarrinPA: Well that's fair enough. It's pointless comparing GTA IV to SA on a technical level, but subjective stuff such as atmosphere, side missions, characters, story etc are comparable. IMO which GTA IV also excels at.

I guess the grey area of these technical comparisons is wheither or not the physics were an improvement. I felt as if the new physics with Niko were a bit clunky and slow. Little jacob died opening a door and Niko died stepping up a curb. The cars were too slow also, BUT easier to handle.

But as for side missions in GTA IV? I could see how we disagree with story, feel, ect but SIDE MISSIONS? monocle.gif lol.gif

I've always felt the side missions in GTA IV suited Niko's goals. None of them felt out of place. My problem with SA and this goes with the others too is the side missions felt really random and useless other than making a quick buck.

Quarry, trucking, pizzaboy, car salesman etc (Basically all the GTA III era sidemissions in general).

To me the side missions are a much more tighter focus in GTA IV. That's what I meant anyway. smile.gif
