I think the problem is with motorcycles that they have so little stuff that's NOT crucial, that you can't really add a damage model as extensive as cars. Maybe the ability to lose shell pieces or something.

At this point, I'm wondering how Motorcycle crashes/damage would look with this engine!
Exactly the same. Flabby, jittery and riddled with a lot of clipping and collision issues. Soft bodies are nice, but something like this is not achievable on consoles (not with an actual game on top) and this stuff is impressive but definitely not production ready.

Yeah, I mean it should be obvious, that we won't see anything similar on current-gen consoles.

hmm this is an oversight. The fairings and bodywork could snap off or dent and miamivicecities idea's a good one - but i think doing motocycle jumps, you'd have to use the left stick to level out so you could land perfectly - and you wouldnt break your bike. Land unevenly and your bike would snap.
Would be cool to see either way. Mostly asthetic damage, because the tiniest damage to the steering would have dire effects
If you go on Youtube there's tons of videos of people on bikes trying to make jumps only to land wrong and bend/snap a frame.
While a bit off topic it should be the same for cars too. An awkward landing results in severe suspension/chassis damage.
yeah i get what you mean. I've seen it with BMX and skateboards too. Physics can be a bitch.
I for one don't like that video. It's too much. The cars look like they're made out of rubber, and i personally don't want to see that physics style in GTA. In IV crashes feel heavy. Smash your Dukes into a truck and you'll know about it. Ok they damage models could be improved a little but it's the FEEL that i prefer. That video, i think is trying too hard to be realistic and, as is in films and fiction writing, sometimes true realism can be unrealistic.

I doubt your average gaming PC can handle that either... You need a f*cking monster rig if you want that in an open world game like GTA.
Yeah, it needs to be improved AND affect driving. We need more than scratches and broken lights, like whole bike bends when jumping off 2 story building. I don't care if bike is harder to drive. I like realism but I like fun too.

Driving a messed up bike because you simply drove off a building and you can only go 50 feet a hour with it is fun?
Probably because it'd be too much work for a visual effect that would barely be seen. Twisted handlesbar, dents/bends to the frame would barely be noticeable whilst the player is riding the bike. If they made it so that a serious collision would total the bike and have the front fender fly off, then no one would ride bikes for fear of so easily being damaged beyond rideability when they can just as easily jack a car and plow through a few intersections.
Motorcycles should be faster off the line with a faster 0-60 than almost every other vehicle also with an insanely high top speed. However any collision above and beyond a fender bender would render the motorcycle useless with realistic front end damage. The price you pay.

Who said it will drive that slow? I said it wil be bend and affect drivng.

Really, if R* were to add damage for motorcycles, I'd imagine they'd just focus on the (few) panels that the bikes have, like the front and rear gaurds and the body if it has any.
I'm just hoping damage in general get's a touch up, they need more pieces coming off, mass collisions in IV felt too clean.

I dont really notice motorcycle damage that badly. I know it can bad in real life, but in GTA 4, the only things i noticed were shot-out tires, shot-out headlights, and the occasional smoke.
