hey guys,

So i have been playing gta IV and EFLC and im sick of my rig not running smoothly on these two games i constantly have stutter and fps drops in certain angles , the stutter problem many others have , but the fps drops in angles is something that i and a few others on this forum have experienced , it is really strange that at a time i have like 40fps in one angle and when i look from another angle i have 10-20 fps! Now for the stutter : i have tried so many commandlines i lost count maybe i overlooked one but i dont think its that , i also tried overclocking, turning some settings to low or off but really nothing solves it. As for the strange fps issue in angles i have no clue what could fix that.

Here are my specs

OS Name Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit
Version 6.1.7601 Service Pack 1 Build 7601
OS Manufacturer Microsoft Corporation
System Type x64-based PC
video card: AMD radeon HD 6800 series 1GB
Processor AMD Phenom™ II X4 955 Processor, 3200 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 4 Logical Processor(s)
BIOS Version/Date American Megatrends Inc. 1601, 8-9-2010
SMBIOS Version 2.5
Installed Physical Memory (RAM) 8,00 GB
Total Physical Memory 8,00 GB
Available Physical Memory 6,17 GB
Total Virtual Memory 16,0 GB
Available Virtual Memory 12,4 GB
Page File Space 8,00 GB

I hope i will find a solution myself but i doubt it , would u guys be so kind to help? biggrin.gif or think what the problem of these issues could be ?

Have you tried out installing the GTA IV 1.0.4.0 patch? Besides, if that doesn't work, take a look at this topic, it's damn helpful. icon14.gif

wow thanks for the ultra fast reply biggrin.gif
but yeah i want to play multiplayer on eflc and the problem still persists in patch 1.0.4.0 (i have separate games one for 1.0.7.0 and one for 1.0.4.0)
also i have ALL of those programs ccleaner, gamebooster, advanced system care and use each one of them , game booster helps a little bit but not such an drastic improvement sad.gif
any more possible fixes?

Try turning off the VSync. Try also defragging your HDD. You might also want to take a look at memrestrict.
Take also a look at this. icon14.gif

ALSO the stuttering and fps drops in angles is only noticeable on day and rain etc but NOT night , at night i almost notice nothing of these things!

What do you mean by "angles". I assume that you mean "areas".

Anyway, your system should run GTA 4 quite well, but there will always be variations in fps, depending on the demand on the cpu at the time. Try using just 2 commandlines, reservedApp 0 and -memrestrict, with the number of your resource usage x 1024 x 1024, giving a number in bytes. If stutter is still there, use a lower number.

patch 1.0.7.0 , and the commandlines u suggested actually worked but i still have the fps drops in angles (in angles i mean in certain directions) . Settings dont matter only the view distance and shadows effect on my fps . The fps drops in angles was best noticed when i used enb , that i look in one direction the fps is 30 or so and then i look the other way and bam 15 fps sad.gif however , then i thought maybe if i change the weather with snt i will get better fps? And it worked i put the weather to extra sunny 2 or something and no more stutters , no more fps drops in angles . So i am guessing it has to do with the weather?

That's good it works better. I have no idea about the weather thing. I found misty weather gives the best performance for me.

ok, several things. in my opinion, gta iv renders according to field of view and give priority to those angles that the camera is focused on. original poster is another of these guys who is running a modded game and asking questions like he is playing regular gta IV. enb modded players are really hard to please, so i will not try.
as far as the weather, and why eflc runs slower than the other two, its cause the polygons/shaders/shadows require more math, more data, more calculations. this is what i think. it may not be true, heaven knows rockstar toronto never elaborated on this, but when i tweak gta iv/eflc according to these rules, i find i have an easier time.
