We'll see if it's a hard drive problem. Also,I don't think you need to get a new one.I have a pc from about 2003-2004 with a Celeron Processor and Intel Graphics and I can get SA to run at constant 20-25 fps(frame limiter on) at 800x600x16,which is pretty remarkable for a pc this bad.

When I first played GTA SA I had an ATI 9600 128Mb, an 1 Ghz processor (can't remember what model) and 756 RAM and it also ran pretty smooth at 800x600x32 and high FX Quality so it would be weird if I couldn't use those settings on my laptop at a higher resolution.

I have tested it on my external hard drive but it seems that this one is slower than my current hard drive. Luckily I have a few others but they don't have enough space for GTA. I'l have to clean them first.

Not yet on my external hard drive. I'll test him now and I'll edit this post with the results.

EDIT:It doesn't seem to have any errors. But I was just wondering, my current hard drive has about 6 partitions: windows, windows recovery, ubuntu, and 3 other partitions I forgot what they were. Could this be the cause of slowing down my hard drive?

To tell you the truth,I don't know much about what you listed right now,but that ubuntu seems kinda strange to me.I'll gather more info about it.Until then, you could try CCleaner.I know i'm literally throwing a lot of programs at you,but sometimes little things change the whole pc/laptop.Also don't forget to check for viruses and defragment.Through I only suggest using the antivirus and defragment only if you have a lot of things on your hard drive.

EDIT:From what i've read about ubuntu,it's just another program or something like that,so it can't hurt.

I clean my hard drive regulary with CCleaner. And Ubuntu is an OS which uses linux. I also defrag and scan my hard drive almost every month

EDIT: If my hard drive hasen't anything to do with the stutter from shadows then it can only be a driver issue because I didn't have lagg on Ubuntu. But I don't know how I could fix a driver issue sad.gif

Well,Ubuntu is probably the problem why your hard drive is "slow".If you can, uninstall it.I think Win 7 is good enough.

I'll try that. I also can't remember any stutter the first time I ran the game.

Well, thanks for trying to help me, and who knows the last tip could help as I also ran out of ideas.

EDIT: I have found some similar problems and it seems the lag has something to do with windows 7 because most people didn't have lag on windows XP.

EDIT 2: Well, I've found a temporary solution. I have to set framelimit on so I can only reach 25 fps. Using this is the only way to use a high resolution combined with AA 3 and fx quality high. My fps still drops to 20 at some places but using ENB series makes the gameplay smoother. So the lag almost isn't visible anymore.

Thanks to those who helped smile.gif
