I'd still love to see something inbetween this and GTAIV's damage model

Sure, as long as the vehicles don't get as easily damaged as depicted in the video.

I feel like someone already posted this exact same video a few days ago...

Edit: Checked my YouTube history and it is the same video, but from a different user.

You know it doesn't have to do anything with GTA V and yet you don't post the original video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KppTmsNFneg
And there's also an update:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9JPDtDfxf6w

And yes, I definitely want something like this in GTA.

I think it's the slow motion that makes it look like they get damaged so easily.

If I am correct, this game is Rigs of Rods. Fun little game that, as far as i know, has the most realistic vehicular damage simulation than any game out there (well, model bending anyways). If GTA V did, I would be happy. But it will be a bit annoying for us unskilled drivers to crash into a pole, have the car completely totaled, and have to switch to another car. They should include it, but not as realistic as this, lemme do some damage before I have to switch cars.

I know it's realistic and all.
But thats just going way over the limit of a game xD

It looks as if you crash a car into a pole, the whole car splits in half and sh*t

I'd like the crashes more realistic than in GTA IV, but I don't want the cars to be as weak as plastic.

Those look too rubbery, not very realistic IMHO. They indeed did a great job recreating crash physics. I just hope GTA V won't disappoint.

I LOVE this. Car damage in games is almost always a big miss imo. GTA4 did a very good job, but some wrecks still had some goofy results. I would love this damage in V, but as everyone has said, maybe not as sensitive. Maybe up the attributes so that each damage ingame is equal to damage at half speed in real life.

I am surprised at the amount of games that still use prerendered damage effects. I hate it when a pole/person/car/jump end up with the same damage. Takes the fun out of trying to cause big wrecks.

Sure, that would be awesome.

But I would need the health cheat. I don't wanna be driving a nice Cognoscenti GT I looked hard for and then I hit something, it's totalled.

But that would be awesome, I doubt we'll see it, but hopefully V heads in a more realistic direction with crashes.

We've been through this too many times... The consoles could not handle physics of this magnitude on top of processing the graphics, game logic, and artificial intelligence. Expect a slightly improved crash effects and simulation from GTA IV but nothing along the lines of full soft body physics simulations.

The Cry 3 engine?
Looks awesome in my opinion. I love damage and GTA IV delivered it very well.
The previous titles always had a rigid chassis, this was rather annoying.

I like the Cry 3 engine. Looks awesome, however, its quite obvious that GTA V wont have it and I'm sure some people would just find it annoying.
