Hmm, that's exactly how much my phone costs. Wait, you're telling me it has the same specs as my phone? Oh.. |
Mind telling us where you got your phone, because I'm sure everyone here would love to know where they can get a $99 phone with a Tegra 3 processor. |
Verizon Wireless my man.
Technically it was free, because my old contract had passed, but starting a new contract you'd pay $99. But $500 if you just want to buy the phone full retail.
EDIT - Oops, it's a Tegra 2 not a Tegra 3 | You're not really paying $99 for it though anyway though are you? You're on a contract, which will cost you significantly more, it's not really the same.

I aint buying it. It will fail lol. Most android games dont support controllers and only touch, meaning alot of the games must be re configured to play with the ouya controller. Im not buying a system that in the end will only have 32 games., learned by lesson after the NGAGE.
I can see it now. Power issues, low quality flimsy controller, horrible screen resolution, worse internet browser then the psp browser, etc. Ugh...
Id rather buy the more powerful PS2 slim for the same price new at walmart. $100.

1) Obviously games made for mobiles will not necessarily look good or play well with TVs and Joypads (even though they will have touchscreens). That's why they're signing up developers for their platform; if the platform sells ok there's also no reason why devs shouldn't just add a specialized "Ouya mode" to their existing games. Most games and apps should work well enough from the start due to the pad. 2) N-Gage wanted to tackle the handheld market; we have Android phones for that now. This is a different market and a different time, and it works on an established ecosystem. 3) Any proof for any of those claims you make? What power issues? It'll run off a wall outlet. Controller looks like a 360 pad with a touchscreen added. Screen resolution will be 1080p. No browser has been announced so far but Chrome and Dolphin exist for Android and should work... those are pretty good browsers. 4) A PS2 for $100 in 2012? You should better check eBay and buy one for $10. Also I highly doubt a 300 MHz single core is more powerful than a 1.4GHz (?) quad core; the 32/36MB of RAM don't look to well against the Ouya's 1GB either. You could just have said "I love Sony, f*ck Ouya" and saved both of us some time.

| QUOTE (Typhus @ Saturday, Jul 21 2012, 06:43) | | Surely there can be some way of simplifying the process so anyone can create any game without having to learn coding and all that? |
That stuff has already existed on PCs for years, they're called "game makers". The results are pretty much what you'd expect though - sh*t. That's why you won't find good games built with those, and that's why it would make absolutely 0 sense to dedicate a platform to that kind of game. LBP clearly will not be released for Ouya because it's a Sony exclusive but similar games might find their way there some day. Coding is nothing magical, it's actually pretty easy, you simply have to invest some time into it. If you have no time to invest, why do you think you could ever make a worthwhile game?! You could also try Flash if time and coding are such big problems. ccrogers15: I heard what you said but the hardware you're talking about is still worth no more than 10 bucks today and most certainly not "more powerful" than the Ouya, which you claimed in your blind fanboyism; if you're actually stupid enough to spend 100 bucks on it, go ahead. Or you could just use your PS3's backward compatibility... oh wait, no, sorry, they removed that... That "turd" (which offers 10x more power than the platform you love so much and is a lot more versatile for the same price) from a "noob" developer (actually industry professionals... but your well thought-out arguments obviously speak for themselves) will be released no matter how many uninformed - curiously, mostly Sony - fanboys try bashing it do death. Orbis/the PS4 is still coming too, just buy that and be a happy camper. Noone is forcing you to even look at the open platform. Just continue the way you like it, have everything restricted and locked down, functionality removed instead of added over time and have people tell you what you can and can not do with a thing you own; those among us who have not yet been brainwashed might however choose to not go in that direction and rather support freedom. What it comes down to is: PC/Ouya: Land of the free. PS3/Orbis/Xbox360/Durango/Wii/U: Land of the slaves... they even wanted to block used games from running in the next-gen consoles, and I'm not even talking about "online passes". I will buy all of the next gen consoles as well but not because I support the idea behind them, which is making the user a slave of the platform he owns; I have to buy them for professional reasons. I have pledged for the Ouya because of the idea behind it, the versatility and the possibilities it gives small developers - you know, those devs who actually have new ideas and don't just release an updated version of the same game each and every year to cash in on the stupidity of people. On topic: they just released the boot-up jingle, though many people don't like it much; having a community contest to choose a better one has been proposed. Also Julie Uhrman and Yves Behar answered interview questions on Kotaku. The pledges currently amount to $5.3m, making the project roughly 560% funded and around 40,000 consoles "sold". Pretty good considering this thing is not aimed at the big, dumb majority and is still in development.
