My question is: Do you guys think, that rockstar teased a very big map, because they think it's gonna be "very big" for a R*games Open world game with a lot of detail, or because they actually compared the map size with games like Just cause 2, Elders scroll games etc?

& Did they ever make such a statement for one of their other games?

I think it will be big because of a bigger map than GTA IV and a detailed landscape. It won't reach the size of just cause 2 map.

They made Red Dead have huge plains, mountains, cliffs, natural forests, lakes, waterfalls.
It was the perfect game for me because of it's large map.


Infact, Red Dead Redemption is the only game i've played that has the largest map.

Rockstars probably took the natural scenery and features of Red Dead and made a country side out of it in Grand Theft Auto V.

Even the view distance was great in RDR.



IV on the other hand, that game was pretty old but still fun to play, I liked the view of the city the most during night. As well as Max Payne.

I'm guessing Rockstar makes separate games first then finally put everything into the Best Seller (GTAV)

I am pretty sure they mean as in large map. IV was very early adoption of how to work with Rage and when it came out, it was one of the most detailed open world games to date. They have had fun in the last couple years playing around with it. V is going to be massive compared to IV and honestly do not think anyone will be let down from it.

GTAIVs map wasn't that very big It was kind of "alright" actually. And for GTAV? i'm thinking it will be very big or huge.

Actually, I'm pretty sure your point was exactly that. Is GTA V's map going be ''Rockstar-big'', or is it going to be ''Just Cause 2 -big''.

Nope, big compared to games like Just cause 2. Not literally as big as just cause 2, Elder scrolls games etc.

If GTA V is less than half the size of JC2, which I think will be the case, then no, GTA V won't be Just Cause 2-big. We are virtually positive GTA V will be Rockstar-big, maybe even Rockstar-huge, but JC2-big is pushing it too far.

If they want detail then it won't be as big as the JC2 map. Even though the JC2 map is good, it lacks a lot of detail.
