Ive just started modding in GTA San Andreas and I know what you're going to say 'woah slow down' but I do have a lot of experience modding and moddeling in several other games including The Sims 3 and Sim City 4. I was wondering if it was possible to add your own self made peds? NOT replace or modify any of the ones already included in the game but add brand new ones. I was wondering if there was a tutorial on how to create a skin. The ped skins used in GTA SA seem similar to the ones used in the original Sims.

In other words, could you create a city full of hot-looking women if you wished to dedicate yourself to a project like that?

As you might know, each game has it's limits. In San Andreas, you can only add two additional peds without using SALA. But using SALA will make the game really un-stable, your choice. AFAIK, there are no other tools allowing more peds to be added.

In theory, you can do whatever you want in a game. In practise, it depends how much work you'll be doing for it. wink.gif

Well basically there's a kind of sub-program that ships with the sims thats called Create-a-Sim

Basically it means you can create a Sim from scratch height, weight, muscles, hair style, colour things like that
You can also choose their wardrobe as well. I think it would be interest (and funny) to have my simmies running around SA tounge.gif

Edit: Two completely different game engines though probably not possible or would take years of work.

Unfortunately, no. At least not yet. I guess it could be possible if you could make players customisation, muscle and fat stats work also for peds, but I guess it won't be easy job.

Another way around would be creating few peds with different clothes and "switching" between those, but if using HQ models then the game will probably lag and it'll allow only really limited amount of different peds.

Just wanted to point out as well that The Sims 3 is also very moddable - it's what got me into 3ds Max. I think a lot of games nowadayas are made to be easily modded because game makers know the modding community is huge. Trainz is a railroad simulator I sometimes play as well, it was made to be modded.

Have you ever wondered why they don't try to shut down sites that show you how to reverse-engineer a game even though this is in the copyright warning?

I guess they won't shut down as the information spreads pretty fast, and not many people share info how to crack an executable so it bypasses CD-check. Those sites are usually for legit coding, and R* haven't made a single act against GTA-network as in here, if you even mention that you have downloaded a game, you won't be helped. Strict rules to keep game developers happy. smile.gif

And, what kind of mods are made for Sims? Got a bit interested...

And, I guess I could ask few modders if they'd know a way to allow haircuts etc. for peds. Would be great to see more varied peds on the streets.

I could go on all night telling you about what you can mod in the sims, but there is a forum site www.modthesims.info which contains many user-created mods and gives you detailed information on how to begin modding for yourself. It has many tutorials such as 'modding for frackin noobs' by the admin Delphy (his sense of humour tounge.gif )

If you know how to mod for GTA or in fact any game, you already have a head start in the Sims it's like riding a bike once you get the hang of it smile.gif
