Hi everyone,

I don't know if I should've posted this in the Music Talk section (or somewhere else) but I just thought it'd fit the Tech section quite well.
So here we go;

I'm planning on buying a new speaker set for under €30.
Currently I'm in possession of a Logitech X-140, which are now worth €25 and have a PMPO of 5W ( lol.gif ).
In my opinion, they're starting to sound a bit weird as if they're damaged and besides that, they aren't that loud (if you do set it at its loudest, the sound becomes distorted).

So I was checking Alternate.nl (the main site we use in Holland for hardware) for speaker sets for under €30 and I stumbled upon this:

user posted image

The MS-TECH LD-800 with a price of €20 and a PMPO of 800W ( mercie_blink.gif ).
It has mixed reviews, as the first one says it doesn't even compare to the Logitech X230 and X530, while the second says it's actually better.

So, what are your opinions?
Shall I just take this one or do you know any other speaker sets (2 speakers, 1 subwoofer) of about the size of the LD-800 and not more than €30?

Thanks in advance,

Exxon

PMPO is neither an accurate measure of a system's power nor sound quality. To put it simply, PMPO is nothing more than a gimmick used by companies to sell products to people who don't know that PMPO means jacksh*t.

Basically, that system will never, ever be able to output 800W of power, EVER.

These are the best for your budget from that site. Take my advice, don't get the MS-Tech thing, I'm willing to put money on its sound quality being a LOT worse than the Logitech.

Even though you say I shouldn't be looking at the PMPO, the numbers make me think I won't hear any difference between the X-140 and the S220, is that the case?
I want new ones because these one are damaged if you'd ask me, but also because I love the bass in songs and besides that I want louder speakers.
Do you think there'll be much of a difference between the two?

For I forget, I don't expect the LD-800 to reach "800W" because I know that's bullsh*t.
It's just a nice looking set, and the numbers and reviews just make me think they're quite a lot louder and heavier than those that I have now.

Getting one of these speakers with them subs, make sure it has bass control, either a bass knob directly on the sub or though a wired control cable. Some or most el cheapo 2.1 systems don't have this and their bass are sooo poor it sounds like a old man coughing to death.

Both Warlord and illegal_luggage posted 2.1 systems with bass controls, you should consider on looking at those two.

My point of have bass control is so you can adjust the bass according to what you're listening. A speaker having this function doesn't automacitally make them a good product.
Even though the LD-800 has bass and tremble, that thing is garbage. There is a old saying, do you get what you pay for and don't expect a €20 to product 800w of power because that's impossible.
I won't be surprise if that junk is going up in smoke immediately after you turned it on.

I'm not saying I expect it to produce 800W because I know something from €20 won't do that (I actually think it might have been 80 instead of 800).
Still, it just looks good and it has a nice price and a good review. - scratch that, searched on Google and came up with huge amounts of people saying it just hasn't got the quality your looking for sigh.gif

But anyway, are there any other sets to choose from?

EDIT
What about this set, or this one?

What about this set?
Logitech LS21
http://www.alternate.nl/html/product/Logit...1/?tk=7&lk=4241

Omg I had those got them 2.0 version for £18. They lasted well and the sound was not loud but ok for £20 2.0 speakers. They don't sound tinny.

Sorry for double posting, but I just want your opinions about this set: Sweex 2.1 Speaker System Arena Black/Silver.
It's a good price, and looks promising.

Also, what would be the best thing if I have a max of €40, and €50?
For €40, I was thinking about this set: Logitech Speaker System Z323.
Sorry for asking so much blush.gif

Google reviews for what you're looking at. At the end of the day you mostly get what you pay for. I would take a look at Creative T3130 system as the reviews are good for it and it's in your price range.

I have a set of Cyber Acoustics computer speakers. Try that brand, they're cheap, compact, and good sounding.

Thanks for the quick reply smile.gif
But I want a set that has, ofcourse, good quality, but also a good bass and enough power so you can still hear it from a distance.
Are you sure that set has the power I want?

But anyway, by looking at the reviews I think that'll be my next set, unless someone has a better one?
Or do I really need to raise the budget to €50?

I'm sure that set will do the job. I would go with that set and then save for a sound card which makes everything sound better.

Nope, the numbers aren't the only things that matter. You have to look at the internals of the systems.

For one thing, the S220 has a sub, which means better bass.

The S220 may use different drivers (not software drivers, drivers are an internal component of speakers/subs) for example.

But to be honest, there isn't a single speaker set in that budget range to provide a significant upgrade to what you have currently. But since you said you love bass, you'll definitely hear a difference with the S220.

For 40 Euros, your best bet is the Creative A320 which have a better frequency response than the Z323.

For 50 Euros, the A320 is your best bet too.

However, the Z323 is not a bad choice either. I couldn't get detailed specs for either of them, but basically the Z323 has more power, yet a worse frequency response than the A320. I'd personally go for the A320.

Its only if you can stretch the budget to 60 Euros that the choice will change (in that case the Creative A520 or the Logitech Z523 are both good choices).
