Hey guys,

I just got GTA4 today and was really excited to play it. The installation was smooth but when I started it was lagging really bad and also didn't let me configure the video settings, so i made a .txt file named commandline and added "-norestrictions" to it. I could fix my setting and put everything on the highest.

My specs:
- Intel Core i7 - 3610QM
- NVIDIA GeForce GTX 670M / 3GB GDDR5
- DDR3 12gb RAM

Sometimes the game runs really smooth, but only for a few seconds. And when it runs smooth ever second or two, it freezes really fast and un freezes. Is there something I need to configure in the game or on my computer? (Just got the computer today too). Somebody please reply quick.

Start by lowering the settings.

Try lowering the resolution. Also, try the -memrestrict fix as suggested in this topic.

Try lowering the resolution. Also, try the -memrestrict fix as suggested in this topic.

That won't mix well with norestrictions.

Is this a common problem with the game or is there something wrong with my computer?

It depends, you should not be maxing out the game with that hardware, just use a reasonable combination of high and very high settings and you should be fine; Also, make sure you patch the game.

Get patch 4. Put settings down to high, and tell us the results...

Also, try the following commandlines alone:

-reservedapp 0
-memrestrict 650117120

The memrestrict number is experimental. Lower will reduce stutter, higher will reduce popin.
