Yeah man i loved WW2 games. Call of Duty 2 & Medal of Honor: Frontline were my favorites. One thing i wish they did with WW2 games was catch the glory, brutality & darkness of the war like in Saving Private Ryan or Band of Brothers. COD: World At War captured the atmosphere bette (as well as Brothers in Arms) & probably a few others but i really want an INTENSE high definition WW2 FPS game that will blow your mind. I always tough COD: Big Red One succeeded in making you care for your fellow soldiers & COD2 had the best mission lineup which was very replayable.

I think Infinity Ward should make another WW2 game but there caught up modern warfare now. I did read an article talking about them possibly returning to WW2 in the future to tell more stories with new technology

Sure, I miss them too. It's nice to take a break with a decent WW2 game coming about every so often.

But Call of Duty, in this moment of time, can stay FAR FAR f*ckING AWAY from World War 2. I don't want to imagine uber-fast paced, level up killstreak perk xXDubstepXx corporate cock bullsh*t that would plague the awesome environment and atmosphere of a WW2 game.

I'm fine with Day of Defeat, for now. Company of Heroes 2 looks pretty damn cool too.

Remember when there were too many WWII games? Now there are too many modern warfare games!

I too would love to see a WWII game with new technology. I always wanted to see a realistic, brutal, high-def depiction of Omaha beach. Imagine an entire game based on that. Heaps of detail. Different every time you play it. The goal is to survive or if you're playing as the Axis, to stop the incoming Allies. Online would be fun as f*ck too. Simple, no perks and sh*t. Just interesting scenarios and balanced gameplay.

Seriously, pretty much every single WW2 game since 98 has had a scene out of Saving Private Ryan. Honestly, its some sort of law to have a scene in there; whether its storming the beach at Normandy or running through a destroyed village or shooting up the Axis in a field.

Don't be sad! They're still being releasd:

- Red Orchestra 2: Heroes of Stalingrad
- Sniper Elite V2
- Brothers in Arms: Furious 4
- Heroes & Generals
- Iron Front: Liberation 1944

If anything, it's good that we're not flooded with so many WW2 shooters anymore...

gotta admit it does feel pretty cool to play through a scene you've seen before, brings a bit more suspense.

Yeah but how many of them were executed to the exact feeling of Saving Private Ryan?

BIA Furious Four is believed to have been cancelled or at least had the initial idea scrapped and replaced.

Wouldn't suprise me if there will be a new COD WW2 game soon. These days they make war games that are set in the near future but sooner or later they'll have to make something "new".

Nope. Ubisoft dropped the trademark as it was exclusive to Gearbox.

To m eWW2 games are like zombies games, there are a lot of them but very few good ( in terms of zombie almost none, just Dayz that you currently play) ones that give you want you want.

They are still being done. And this 2 are the best new ones:
- Red Orchestra 2: Heroes of Stalingrad
- Iron Front: Liberation 1944

I highly recommend them.

I go back and play my WWII collection every now and then. To me, it doesn't get any better than COD with the United Offensive expansion pack.

I'd love for DICE to make a completely overhauled Battlefield 1942. 1943 doesn't count.

they need to bring BF: Vietnam (not Bad Company's expansion pack) to current gen consoles. severe lack in most games set before Op Gothic Serpent at the moment, everything is either "current war against unnamed Middle Eastern Force" or twenty minutes into the future setting.

wouldnt mind seeing something in a similar setting to Black Hawk Down, reasonably modern weapons and equipment but no f*cking hybrid sights and tech like that. maybe that way the focus would be more on the combat that the gizmo's. I've always felt WWII games have had such better atmosphere in general, partly due to the lack of choppers coming to pick you up, underbarrel grenade launchers, ACOG's and such. you feel so much better countersniping with an unscoped M1 Garand than you do with a scoped and silenced M4A1. same as when you charge trenches and mortar pits rather than fight in a carbon copy generic detroys street with the same six shopfronts repeated.

United Offensive was amazing. Is the multiplayer still active today?

How about a WWI game?

I would love that, but it would take more effort to make it interesting enough. Since most of it was trench warfare.
I don't think any developer wants to take the risk.
