GTA III - Liberty city.

san andreas, while it's the best, has 3 cities that aren't too good for me. every city has a different vibe, but overall i feel a lack of general detail. Some places feels unpolished and empty

Vice city has the best setting (the 80's, yeah!) but the city is flat and boring, expecially the second big island (the road from docks to downtown take away half of the map)

GTA IV - Liberty city... i need to explain better this one. The details are incredible, the city is big, but overall it's boring. I'm not a New yorker (not even an american) and i don't know the vibe of the city, so to me it looks like a big, grey map where every place feels (almost) the same.

GTA III-liberty is the smallest, but it's a perfect mix: it's a really dangerous place (expecially portland), it has a great variety from downtown to hills, and has a lot of uniques places (from Leone's mansion to Kenji's casino). It's not big, but it has everything, plus the desing is incredible, with little touches (the echo, the puddles of water) and a great mix between cartoony and gritty feelings

It's always struck me how people say LC feels the same in each area. In what way exactly? Can't you tell when you're in Broker compared to Algonquin or Algonquin compared to Alderney for example?

To me driving from Hove Beach into Algonquin feels like I drove from some armpit town in Eastern Europe into a modern metropolis or when I go to Bohan everything feels dirty or heading into North Aldenery feels like I want to settle down and start up a family and live there. I could go on...

Anyway if you ask me me R* done a fantastic job giving each area its own and unique feel considering how closely based off NYC it was. Go play most games set in NYC. IMO they don't even come close.

San Fierro.

I just loved it there, the steep streets, how the city looked from a distance, how the city looked while within it. It's home to the Windy Windy Windy Windy Windy street, which had a great view of the Big Pointy Building. It had those tram cars which were fun to hop on and take tours of the city. It had wonderful looking bridges, a submarine, and an aircraft carrier at its docks. There was a lot of cool sights in that town.

San Andreas on a whole is by far my favorite. If I am to pick one of the cities there, it's San Fierro. San Francisco in real life is the place I plan to move out to in the future and the video game shows it in such a positive way. No, I'm not talking about gangs hanging around or some random lunatic shooting at everyone, but rather the way it's designed. Fine weather that is not too cold neither hot, the roads are awesome, the places are great and it's just such a peaceful place.

I love Los Santos because I'm really into the ghetto culture and I love Las Venturas because it's an incredible place. Unlike every other GTA city, I've actually been to Las Vegas and although it's too hot and crowded around The Strip, it's such a nice place for doing business and wonderfully designed.

I like Vice City too but it kind of feels too empty in the streets, specially the mainland. And Liberty City in III is great too but too grimy and dark, not to mention chaotic with all the hostile gangs. Same deal with LCS although it's a bit lighter and cleaner.

IV's Liberty City is a nice video game version of New York but it's not my cup of tea to be honest. I prefer more peaceful cities like San Fierro to more older music.

I disagree. The countryside and desert in SA are boring. RDR however..

No, it's an area of Cerveza Heights in the game, which includes the entire Liberty City state of the IV Era, not including Alderney.

Easily San Andreas. The game has three great cities and Los Santos is probably the best of them.

Liberty City in the GTA III era had a nice atmosphere too.

Same here. Well I don't remember every part of San Andreas, there are actually some parts that are almost undiscovered by me but that's just fine. It's a huge game. But I still know many places well and the same goes for Liberty City in GTA III. Even If I didn't play these games in 10 years I would still remember many parts.

San Andreas ain't a city.

Anyway, I picked IV LC. Just a fantastic parody of NYC. Every district feels different and everywhere is insanely detailed.
