this is kind of stuff that euphoria is designed to do, they probably didn't get around to implementing this for IV. There was no real animation, Niko just slided off standing straight until he hit the road. A Euphoria character by default does't behave that way cause they always move their feet to try and maintain balance (that's the AI driving the animation). I guess what happened is they couldn't get the characters to balance themselves on a moving car, so they just sort of switched it off.

I always just loved hitching rides from people in San Andreas. Jumping on top of their car and just riding around until they went bat sh*t insane and start running into walls. I was disappointed in IV on how you just fall off when ever you get on a moving car. But it is realistic.

When you would stand on a moving vehicle on GTA IV you would just fall and drop. I wanna be able to grab onto something(Spoiler,Sun(moonroof)back seat if its a convertible). On a boat i dont want to fall down as soon as the boat starts gaining speed.Or if you're on a pickup truck. I want to jump into a bed and still have the same Physics as in GTA IV when falling but staying inside instead of a force field

Yeah, would be f*cking awesome if we could hold on to something but if we loose our grip we should fall. More realistic.

The only real place or I should say function where pure euphoria physics were used... was walking drunk biggrin.gif My guess that drunk walking was just an euphoria bug which was later considered to be a good drunkness simulation biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

If you stood on a car in real life and it took off you would slide off if you fell...

And yet in GTA IV you climb onto the top of a moving truck, and in TBOGT you walk on top of a train while shooting down helis with an explosive shotgun. Your point?

And to stay on you keep pressing A or X like the final mission where you jump to the helicopter

These were for missions though. What good would it serve if you fell off basically making the mission impossible to complete?

No it's not a bug..
A euphoria character always tries to balance itself and stay upright (not physics but AI). And they have a parameter that influences their speed of reaction. If you delay their reactions you get the drunk walk. It shows off very well how Euphoria works.

Don't yell at me I know GTA isn't real life but here's the nitty gritty.
http://mythbustersresults.com/prison-escape

A person can hold onto the roof of a car with the windows up while the car was zig-zagging.
busted
Jamie could not hold on when the car was going 45 mph. The windows were up for all tests after this.

A person can hold onto the roof of a car while the car is making a big turn.
busted
Jamie fell off when the car was going at just 15–20 miles per hour (24–32 km/h).

A person can hold onto the roof of a car when it makes a sudden stop.
busted
Jamie lost his grip and almost blacked out after a 45 mph stop.

A person can hold onto the hood of a car while the car is zig-zagging.
busted
Adam fell off after the first swerve at just 20 mph.

A person can hold onto the hood of a car while the car is making a big turn.
busted
Adam fell off immediately at only 20 mph.

A person can hold onto the hood of a car when it makes a sudden stop.
confirmed
Adam was able to hold onto the hood at both 20 and 45 mph stops.

A driver can shake someone off of the roof of a car by going through a car wash.
busted
The car wash had no effect on Jamie except for the chilly 55 °F (13 °C) water.

A driver can shake someone off of the hood of a car by going through a car wash.
busted
Adam easily held on to the hood.

Remember the mission in IV where you had to climb onto a moving truck?

Yea that was a cool mission, I hope we could hold and and climb on to moving vehicles by constantly pressing a button

I find it funny when this is where people draw the line to say if the game is good or not. "Oh I can't hang on to cars? f*ck this game!"

C'mon really?

This feature seem kind of pointless to me. I don't see a point in riding on top of cars, trucks and boats.

To people complaining about "stumbling like a retard for 20 seconds after getting nudged by a car", as far as I could tell this only happened if you keep tapping sprint after getting tapped. let go of the controls at any time and Niko get's his sh*t together. I've never managed to do it without actually trying to do it.

What's the problem? It's hilarious anyway, plus you can fire your weapons crazily whilst doing it. Check out some of the earlier Benbuja videos.
