I agree very much. I also felt that the amount of height required to die from a fall was outrageously low.

have you ever fallen in RDR...

Have you ever fallen in real life?

The other type of falling that pissed me off:get literally tapped by a car and you enter convulsions for like 20 seconds and fall over.

Actually in the trailer there are people sitting on the back of a pickup, so i think there is big chance, that we will have the ability to do it too.

I loved standing on cars in SA and just seeing where you end up.

Yep, I also did that in GTA-SA, to see where the AI drivers would go. Plus it's a good way to get a free tour. I hope this is done right in GTAV so you can stay with the car.

In RDR, I think you can stay on top of the train for a while, but eventually you drop off.

I wish there was an option to jump in the bed of a pick up and hang tight i hate it when you slide off the back unrealistically.. also if youre on the roof of a car and when it moves you glide off rather than falling off or tipping over. It would be awesome if you could hang on to a roof of a car like the truck mission.

Lets not forget TBOGT where you had a whole mission involving walking along the top of a train, blasting helicopters. You didn't slide off. R* are listening guys, so perhaps this will be rectified in GTA V

That pissed me off to no end, your character just stumbled like a drunk endlessly after tapping a car angry.gif

I agree -- just a point though:

Did anyone try and jump into the back of an open-top wagon in RDR? I did it a few times w/ friends in Free Roam while we went exploring and screwing with the cougars. The thing is, your character would be stationary the entire time while standing in the back of the wagon. You were not sat down.

This suggests that the problem has been fixed, surely?

My character just nudged slightly and then he would walk again when clipped by a car. I don't have that stumbling for 20 seconds things.

Holding onto the top of a truck, I don't see when you'd ever do that outside of the mission, I thought it wasn't even fun during that one mission. I'd rather have the one-punch surprise kill that only worked in a mission (where you steal the white Honda crx).

Being able to stand in a truck's flatfed while it drives around and you can keep shooting, that they should bring back! smile.gif

I forgot about the train in RDR, that worked quite well actually, I remember spending a while on top shooting animals and lawmen.

OT: I noticed there was definite improvement in the rag-doll physics in the episodic content TLAD and TBOGT you wouldn't get quite as drunk when hit lightly by a car or sent flying through a windscreen.

I haven't tried it yet but I don't think you could walk across moving trains when not in that mission.

I don't mind if we can grab a hold of something if we fall, but we shouldn't be able to stand upright on a moving car. I did like the mechanics used in Truck Hustle. A shame it was just mission specific.

If you stood on a car in real life and it took off you would slide off if you fell... but yeah i would like the option to grab on to it like that one mission where you are dangling from a truck.

Not if it would start out slow.. You could just stand like you do on a snowboard and you would be able to stand there for a while.

There should be an option when you're on a bike or in a car you should be able to jumb if on bike or go on your roof if on car then jump.Onto the back of a tractor trailer and (each tractor trailer or most of them will have different stuff) You  climb to the front where the cab is then you Kick the window,Shoot the driver,or pull the driver out. Then you stop the truck in a place with less people(secluded) and check out the trailer. Empty, full of (cash, jewls, gold RARE)Food deliveries, cars, bikes, sports-cars,Animals,People (You can free them),bombs, appliances(Sell them or for your house),And Mixed items. you can do this with crews

Sounds cool. By the way, have you been playing Just Cause 2 recently? Because I do recall it having features like that. Cool, fun features like that, that is.

You could even stand on top of a fighter jet mid-flight in just cause 2. Sure, it was unrealistic, but screw it, it was real hilarious! Especially when you jump on top of a passenger jet during takeoff and wait till it was up in the air before you pull the pilot out screaming. devil.gif

I think what we saw in GTA IV was a desire to use real-time simulation over scripting as much as possible, and this required keeping contact between moving objects brief. If a character whose physics are being simulated is on top of another arbitrarily moving object whose physics are being simulated, the layers of complexity add up for the physics engine.

It's great progress in Red Dead Redemption that the character could move about freely within the moving train, but the train's set path and acceleration may have provided a means to avoid more complex physics. It's "on rails", and so are the truck and subway in Liberty City in those missions where the character rides on the roof.

In the GTA 3 era games, I loved jumping on top of a car, shooting the roof of it and then trying to stay on as long as you could as the driver freaked out and started driving dangerously to get away (with you still on top). It was a good challenge, especially going around corners.

OMG haha I thought I was the only one! I used to hate the drivers who would get out of the car when you shoot at it though! Lol.

One of my personal favorties on GTA:SA -- I used to get on top of a car on Las Venturas highway, shoot to make the driver start driving recklessly and I would get as high a wanted level as possible with by shooting at the other cars/cops. If you're lucky sometimes you'll get a pretty good driver who'll drive fast but not crash so often, so it's like you have a personal getaway vehicle as you try and getaway from the police biggrin.gif

Yeah I agree that there was too much realism in GTA IV. Maybe in GTA V they will change that.
