Hello guys,

Well, I’m new to modding and have some questions. I have all of the GTA 3 era GTA games on PS2 (except Vice City stories) but soon stopped playing video games completely. However, my „dream" was always to have a GTA that puts all the GTA 3 era games together. To have Liberty City, Vice City and all of San Andreas on one map. Far away from each other of course. Also to have all cars from all games. All peds. All guns. All objects. Just everything!

I’ve seen something like was already done but I wasn’t really fan of the result — the cities were too close to each other and there was too much of a personal touch in my opinion with custom roads etc if I remember correctly. I like to leave everything original, like Rockstar made it.

The thing is that I have a Mac. I don’t plan to move to a PC anytime soon, but I found those games all for sale for Mac, and now I’m thinking of buying them…

So my questions are:

1) Is a mod like that do-able at all? Does it require a lot of skill or is it just a lot of copy & paste? I’m willing to learn and spend some time on it of course.
2) Is it even possible on Mac? I read that yes but — are the modding tools available for Mac too? I can’t manage to get clear answers somehow sad.gif

I would be very thankful for any help guys!

Greetings

Yes it requires much skill because you have to export the whole map and have it run on a different .exe application, (though they all use the same III era engine). What was the mod you saw? Was it GTA: United? It doesn't have SA but it does contain Vice and Liberty City.

I'm not sure about the tools for the Mac though since I use PC. You'll have to wait until someone else chimes in.

Yeah it was GTA: United! I didn’t know it did not include San Andreas, I must have forgotten.

I read that article you posted; seems like it really isn’t easy unfortunately. I don’t know if that’s the case in the GTA modding community — but do people compete against each other with their mods? Because why not just all sit together and try to work on this — it would be fantastic, wouldn’t it? I’m pretty sure if everyone contributes to this project it can be done!

You know what’s crazy by the way? I just saw that I already posted this same question half a year ago. I totally forgot this. TheNathanNS wrote there that I should PM the professionals — but how do I know where and who they are?

Basically, my idea was this: We take all of San Andreas as we know it, but without any missions, or hidden stuff or whatever… we then take Liberty City and Vice City and put all of these where they would be located in real life (Vice City in the South eats, Liberty City in the North east, etc.). We then take all the vehicles from all games. That means also cars that are almost the same — an Admiral for example is not the same in each of these games. So we would have a 1992 Admiral, a 1984 Admiral and a 1986 Admiral. Same for other vehicles… and the same for guns! Also all clothes from all games. Just imagine how cool that would be! And now comes to best part — imagine the game was a huge multiplayer game. It would work like this: Everyone would have „a job“. Everyone would have a personality in the game — somehow. You would start by creating your own character. You would work your way up, and the best part is, if you would die, then you’d be dead for good. You would loose all you had and would need to restart by creating a new character. That would make the killing in the game much more… dangerous! There would probably always be trolls coming and creating new characters just in order to kill people — but that’s what the EP/DP/FP, etc. vehicles would be there for. Which would cost a lot of course! You would earn money by, say, being a taxi driver and bringing other players from A to B. Or being a police man and stopping the criminals. Or being a criminal. Or selling cars. Or importing cars from another city. There’s just so many things, I don’t believe this ever stops! Especially if there would be like thousands of people online! Don’t laugh at me — I know this wouldn’t work haha! But it would be just so… beautiful!

As far as i know, There are no Modding Professionals here on GTAF,
People do it for Fun,

@Topic
The Project you are talking about will take Many Years,
it is not just copy & paste from Diff games to one
You have to go through Engine Limits, Serious Codding, Great Modeling Skills, A LOT of patience

GTA SOL is one of those Project which is trying to achieve that goal

GTA State Of Liberty is one such project which plans to combine all of the cities together in the way R* might have did. You can talk to the project founder X-Seti about your ideas there. He's main goal was to bring all the cities together in all the game engines, VC, SA and Rage
