Nvidia GT 540M 1Gb Graphic Card with latest drivers installed
Windows 7 64bit OS.

Game starts good but starts to lag after some minutes. With lowest settings the RESOURCE USAGE is just 222mb of available 970mb and average fps is 15..And with auto configured setting 830/970mb RESOURCE USAGE fps is 14.66..And the video memory used is intel HD although i have set it to run with high performance Nvidia..Can some please help with this situation.

Well, that's normal. Both those GPU's are Low-End, and with a dual core CPU, you should expect such performance from the laptop.

original poster, i think you have the optimus bug, so update your drivers, if you haven't done so?

It works well with Just cause 2 and other games. It might be a low end card but atleast should run at lowest setting.?
its not graphic card problem.

A GT540M is fine GPU, it's just not thát powerful.
Just keep the settings not too high.

But why has no-one suggested the commandline switch?
Especially the memrestrict line could help you out.

This explains -memrestrict:

http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=404147

Or can take the number in your resource use and multiply it by 1024 x 1024. It is the resource usage in bytes.

I had a laptop with a 540m, but an i7 cpu clocked at 2.2Ghz. It ran at high settings in the low 20s. I think yours should do better than 15. It may be the optimus bug as already stated. Is it patched to 1.0.4.0 or 1.0.7.0? Also could be overheating. Try raising the back and blow a fan under.

Update the nvidia drivers to sort the optimus bug.

The benchmark will say it is using intel hd when it is not.

Use HWMonitor to check temperatures. It will also show if the graphics card is being used or not.

As for the memrestrict value, you experiment with different numbers. If it is too high, you get stuttering, too low, you get excessive popin.

If you are using 64bit windows, try the commandline -reservedapp 0.

It would be good if you give me set of commandline to be used.there are many which i found and its making me confuse which to use and which to avoid..

I installed 1.0.7 patch..with the lowest settings fps is 26..benchmarking shows
cpu usage 86% and video memory used 36%..can you predict something from this..?

For commandline, try this:

-reservedapp 0
-memrestrict 650117120

The benchmark shows that you can turn up some graphics settings which are gpu dependant. Also seems very likely that the 540m is being used.

Try using gpu-z to detect temperatures.

You should add more memory ram as windows 7 64bit can use it. 4Gb is enough.

VisualIV might improve performance.

The game can be played with quite low fps 20 to 30. Higher fps is preferable though especially if you are into the driving.

The most I can manage in my best ATX is 5GBytes using all four slots, but once I get 4 FOUR GIG DDR2, that system will be pretty gnarly I should think...for an Asus 775 board

Hey bro please help me to increase system performance.
the graphics part is more than good, it's the system which is making it unsmooth.I have seen youtube videos with lower specs than me and running a smooth game.

So you get decent fps but a lot of stuttering?

Can you post your graphics settings?
