Alright, so here's what I've got so far.

I've added my coreystestcrate.dff to the gta3.img file, along with the TXD just fine. That part I can handle.

What I keep getting confused at is where does my collision file go? I've tried merging the coreystestbox collision with SFw9.col (where my crate should appear), and just dumping coreystestbox.col into gta3.img (which crashes the game until I take that file back out).

My question is, where on earth do I put a COL file after I've made the model? I can't find any help with this online. sad.gif

I didn't see anything in that video about merging DFF and COL files, just vertex lighting.

No need to merge the col with anything. just give the same name as the dff (the link I suppose) and stick it in your img. you can group colls in a single coll, it works either way.

Your problem looks like you didnt centre the axis to the objects before exporting them. so you probably have an invisible solid box somewhere else. the coll must be there because iirc the game normally crashes on loading if theres a missing coll file unless its a lod.

You can do this in the modelling helper section in kams or the hierarchy section in max. hierarchy/pivot/affect pivot only/centre to object.

ps
Those pics are way too big. streches the page to much.
