Will this be the first GTA where we can go into every building? I find it very unrealistic that you can't enter 95% of the buildings. Considering how long they have had on this game I will be pissed if it's the same as past GTA's. Why isn't this Rockstars top concerns? To have more than just shells. Some people are going to say what about the skyscrapers? Too many floors! Just design a couple different floor types(cubicles, office rooms, apartments) and copy them to every floor with a few changes. It's not unreasonable. Going up to the 90th floor and breaking a window to parachute out of would be a lot of fun. Also people going in and out of buildings. What the f*ck are the buildings even there for? Why aren't more people asking for this? It seems like f*ckin commen sense we should be able to go inside. I mean what the f*ck is there excuse the doors are welded shut?

It's called RAM! Currently the Xbox and PS3 don't have enough of it.

I hated going into a building and then climb all the boring stairs, and if you wanted to go down, you had to take all the stairs down...

For me, only buildings where there is a use inside should be enterable. (my opinion)

Then how the f*ck are they going to go from 3 square mile LC to 30 square mile LS? They can't make 30% of the buildings enterable?

I'd be more than happy if the buildings etc you've gone into for a mission, remain enterable, no need though to make every residence and building enterable.

I don't think that is an issue for RAM. Having people go inside and out of buildings/making LS a living breathing city will be an issue for RAM. R* just has to set a draw distance when entering buildings. For example when people are just driving only 2 floors of buildings are loaded. When they enter and go to the 2nd floor, 5 more floors will be loaded from then on of that building and the same levels of other buildings around you so when you jump out... Hmmm... Maybe there is a RAM issue... NVM cryani.gif

Maybe 1-3 floors accessible by elevator and sometimes stairs.

I agree. That was one of the things i found disappointing with GTAIV. I was surprised that i couldn't freeroam into the bank or Museum. Still, there needs to be much more interior environments that are explorable. While there are technological limits, there is much more that can be squeezed in.

Because you're not loading things far away, but you are loading things like enter-able buildings when you're near them - unless they go back to having a loading screen when you enter a building.

Its obvious that we wont be able to go in most of the buildings, we just arent at that level yet. And Its also kind of unecessary.

BUT... I would really like to be able to go into most of the houses in the suburbs and complete robberies. It would be awesome to break in on people and steal there sh*t and maybe get shot at.

Of Course, i want every building to be enterable! Surley, everyone shares my need to have the protagonist enter a model train shop, a random strangers apartment, and a chlorine warehouse

however, if i can enter a port-o-potty and do absolutley nothing in it, i will cream my pants and flip out in joy

Not just RAM, but total polygon count and the ability of the graphics card to render them. Now if you can wait a few generations of Moore's law, it may be more practical to store and render more interiors in an urban-dense sandbox game.

The other small problem is that game environment human design time does not scale like Moore's law, so it would just be too expensive to design custom interiors for many or all buildings. If they replicated the same interiors many times over, it would be an unrealistic and boring environment, like True Crime LA or LA Noire, which had a ton of rote repetition in their virtual design.

One possible way out of that quandry is to crowdsource the design of interiors out to the gaming masses, like a huge modders' project, maybe with a contest or leaderboard as motivator, to collect thousands of unique and realistic (not weird) interiors for those future games where the hardware can handle the load.

Except for all these unsolved issues, I'm with the OP on the concept. Many years ago, before the first sandbox game and even before the first Unreal maps, I was walking around in old Pasadena and imagined a future game where people would run around in and out of buildings in a big urban game environment. We are halfway there.

I Would love to be able to go into shops and gas stations, with people in them! That would be fun. It's fun to be able to go into buildings but it's not really that important to me

not every building needs to be enterable but IMO the most important buildings should be, like police stations, airports, hospitals, city hall, prisons, community centers, sports stadiums (ie. staples center)... if those places arent enterable then i will be disappointed cuz at this point they should be pushing the current gen consoles to there limit not just graphically but scale wise also especially since we have 1-2 years left in current gen consoles its time to go out with a bang R* get it done

we dont need every skyscraper and every house in the suburbs to be enterable but it would be nice to have 1-2 enterable houses or buildings every couple of blocks just for exploration purposes cuz that basically what I like to do when Im not playing the story, Im just roaming around the city trying to find new things Ive never seen before

If all the major buildings are enterable tho I will be content

Don't want enterable buildings. I'd rather have a bigger countryside and the ability to sit on the bench, camp, dive.

If it can handle it then obviously, but if it cant, make some of it at least.
