At first I thought this was a discussion for philias.

I'm fascinated by machines. The idea that basic logic gates can calculate the exact thing you want to do, and do it was an amazing discovery, and proves to be one of the most important developments in our time.

I'm also amazed by what the human brain can accomplish, considering that it's smaller than a person's head. The information it deals with nearly every day is massive, and I can't imagine how our brain stores it all.

Technology in general, physics and music (mostly electronic music, I like the music where composers experiment with sounds especially) to name a few.

Art deco. Truly the most beautiful design style ever conceived by man. Just look at the Chrysler building, absolutely stunning.

I'm also highly interested in crime, particularly serial killers. What makes them throw it all away? Many of them have families, children, yet they disregard all of that and set down a path they must know will end in incarceration. So why do it?

It's amazing, really. That a man could kill, kill repeatedly, and never once feel even the slightest twang of empathy, not even the tiniest bit of pity for a fellow human in their death throes.
I think they make the world a more interesting place.

A lot of things really interest me. I'm fascinated by space and astronomy, science, languages and the use of words, pretty much any form of art and design, psychology and plenty more. I find myself constantly wanting to learn new things and know more so I tend to delve into any given interest quite deeply for a spell before moving on to something else.

Similar to "the moon", just astronomy/cosmology in general. It's the most humbling and perspective inducing branch of science, and it's such a shame it's being cut so much by western governments in these ties of austerity. It scares me that we're closing in, fast, on a time when everyone who has walked on the surface of the moon is dead. The youngest living person to stand on a foreign celestial body is 76. At this rate it'll be "The people who came before us walked on the moon" rather than "We walked on the moon" quite quickly.

I've always been fascinated by artists too. I don't have that much creative ability when it comes to articulating conceptual ideas and when someone, whether they're a filmmaker or a musician or a painter, manages to encapsulate an idea into something consumable I think it's truly beautiful. It doesn't matter whether the message is something really high concept like a marxist examination of class dynamics or something really basic like a beat that makes you want to dance, it's all valid

More than anything I am fascinated and humbled every time I look at the night sky and start thinking about our insignificance in this universe. It's so freakin' big and mysterious. It pisses me off that I don't know what else is out there. It really does. And when I start thinking that this may not even be the only universe, my inability to know and understand these things pisses me off just as much as it fascinates me.

I am also fascinated by human stupidity and shortsightedness. Instead of developing the technology to explore the space, we are blowing each other up over trivial things, and we're obsessed with acquiring wealth. It's stupid.

Another obvious one for me is the human brain. I just dont get how this watery jelly like substance can process and control what it does. Its no wonder people believe in religion.

Physics and Philosophy.

This basically.

The size of our planet in comparison to the rest of the universe always blows my mind. Just space in general, there are so many amazing things to take in I end up with a headache because I just don't know what to think about first and where to start.

The idea of alternative societies and settlements.

I.E. underground cities, underwater cities, arcologies, floating cities, layered cities, etc.

Many ideas like this have been proposed, just a matter of time before we start seeing places like these around the world.
