I go with Carl Johnson. He's the most relatable because his personality actually varies. One minute he has a heart and cares about those around him, another minute he goes complete psycho on his enemies and even when he kills a traitor like Smoke, he still asks him why he betrayed the family. Similarly to Ryder, who he feels remorse for right after killing him on the next cutscene. Add to that all the effort he put in and the risks he took to free his brother and get him a better life with all the flashy stuff such as garages, businesses, houses and casino stakes.

Tommy is another legend in terms of bad-assness but he's a bit more one-dimensional. Claude has no personality and maybe not even emotions. Vic is a lot like Carl in that he has a heart but does what he has to do, except he's kinda hypocritical, complaining about dealing drugs but still doing it even when it's not needed. (the deal that killed him)

And Toni is 100% loyalty and bad-assness but not much else for personality that makes him standout. He just does what his boss tells him and never goes against it.

Tommy. I just love his ambition and leadership to want to succeed. He took everything VC's criminal underworld threw at him and conquered it all.

Claude was probably the coolest and most memorable character from the GTA III-era. CJ was a good protagonist especially since you could customize him and that stuff.

CJ is the best and also the most successful player in GTA> he owns a mod garage, he is the manager of Madd Dogg, he have shares in the best casino in LV, he have $$$ from a heist in a LV, he owns his own airport and pilot license and more than that he is second in command of Los Santos biggest and most powerful gang, the Grove Street Families.

Tommy. CJ comes second because unlike Claude, his character at least has some depth. As for Toni and Vic, I didn't play neither of the games they were in so I don't know.

Toni Cipriani is the best. He can take out anything he wants. Too bad he is fat now in GTA III.

This is an opinion poll. So you are asking people "Which III-era protagonist is your favourite?". Not including Mike and saying Advance is sh*t, is not allowing opinion if they like that game. Just because you think it was sh*t, others don't.

Anyway, I would say CJ. Customise him to how you want him.
