Okay so if I press Gta iv.exe I get


than this after I click okay



than nothing else.

and if I run launchGTAIV.exe

I get the social club login but it never passes, it says "social club login failed. Please try again." I can play it offline and it worked online but I forgot how to make it work online when I reinstalled. I mean shesh its not like I am playing a stolen game -.- I legally bought this game and social club is pissing me off -.-.

Try right clicking and running the game as administrator.

course I clicked run as administator. I forgot to mention that part. Anyways it tells me

which patch are you using?
you're running the wrong dsound.dll for your game.

solution:

right-click your current dsound.ll
in the columns, click on "previous versions"
locate the original dsound.ll that you were using
copy it to your desktop
drag it back in to your directory

done.

Actually I think, your asilog error there is related to being "Read Only" for your game folder. I have Win 7 and it seems like as long as UAC - User Account Control is enabled for the OS, even when you right click on your game folder and untick the "Read Only" box, and include all subfolders, it still reverts back to being "Read Only", atleast it does for me. So for the asilog.txt file, its trying to write to your game folder but it doesnt present you w/ the elevated permissions message box to allow that, so just open notepad and then save the file as "asilog" as a text file - the default format of notepad files.
Then just cut and paste that file into your game folder, then you shouldnt have that problem
