I believe the latest one, Patch 1.0.7.0. But also Patch 1.0.4.0. Pretty much, the 1.0.7.0 is for quality, while 1.0.4.0 is for performance.

Here's a quote of fixed bugs using Patch 1.0.7.0:
QUOTE
- fix a bug causing tree leaves to look transparent
- fix a bug that prevented uploading of rendered videos to Social Club when attaching certain music tracks
- fix for clip capture "OFF" slowdowns occuring when near waters edge
- expose "detonate" in custom key mapping options menu for Grand Theft Auto IV, Lost and Damned so users can remap "down" arrow key

Something I found about the 1.0.4.0 patch:
QUOTE
Resource management adjustments based on the operating system detected.

Hey man, I was installed 1.0.0.4 [1.0.5.0]. But that was very bad. FPS 1-2. Much lag.

Did you made a clean reinstall before applying the patch? You can't downgrade them.

I just installed GTA IV and I updated the game v1.0.0.4. All these.

Seems like you have other problems apart from the patch.

Not good. [ FOR NOW ]

ATI Radeon X1650 Series - 512 MB 128 Bit

2 GB RAM DDR II

AMD Athlon 64 X II Dual Core Processor - 2.60 GHz.

But v1.0.7.0 is better than v1.0.0.4 on my PC

Patch 7 can be a killer (as it is on many systems) due to the new shadow system.

Similar settings? Sometimes odd circumstances yield better results.

But there is 1.0.0.4 (1.0.5.0) available for performance.

GFWL updates 1.0.6.0 and 1.0.7.0.

I don't understand you system: you've got a top-of-the-line CPU, but a quite sh*tty GPU and only 2 GB of RAM? confused.gif

it depends on what resolution the game is running. i played all summer with gt 220 and q6600 on low settings (but game still looked good). needs more tweaking. i also had only 2gb od ddr2 667 and 32bit vista.

Someone tell me. What's for 1.0.0.4? Why it isn't 1.0.5.0??

1.0.5.0 was just aimed at bringing the game version up to speed with the episodes edition.

That's an easy fix-lol Just turn all shadows to OFF and there would be no problems-simple way to solve that problem..lol lol.gif tounge2.gif

OT-As long as you stay away from the Original version(No Patches version) you should be fine..as long as you at least meet minimum specs...

I'll say, GTA IV's graphic settings are counter intuitive, on my 2500k@4.5, evga gtx 580, patch #7 with sliders to around 70 give me extremely solid gameplay, however the framerate is locked at 55 with v-sync and it feels weird for some reason, it's not like smooth 55 frames.

Anyway, I rather have patch #4 with sliders to around 20-25.
