Truly, it's so sad seeing people praise the parkour and ped details. The Watch Dog protag did nothing even remotely spontaneous in the video. The demonstrator didn't brazenly open fire in that club or do anything that would suggest this is going to be a true sandbox game. Looks like another L.A. Noire to me... a game with a large, elaborate world and no freedom outside the missions. Hopefully, Ubisoft will prove us skeptics wrong.

I see a trait many GTA fans holds, and that is, they criticise any game which is remotely considered "competition". Have the gall to show gratitude where due. Don't try and pick holes at everything. You'll find that there are things greater than what you already know. Just learn to give it a chance.

Guys, you only watched 9 minutes of a single mission. How are you saying that everyone will be very disappointed? That's stupidness, seriously.
If GTA V was not from the Grand Theft Auto series - if it was a game with a different name, produced by another developer -, I'd say that everyone will be disappointed too. I would say that the trailer is very boring and that as nothing else was said about the game it will be another open-world game. If I didn't love GTA, I'd say that.

You close your heads for other types of games that are not GTA-related. There are so many good sandboxes out there that you don't play because "GTA is much better and all the others try to copy GTA".

I don't know if Watch Dogs will be linear, boring or not. I'm just saying that it's not smart from your side to judge a game only from 9 minutes of footage. Wait for more information and then recreate your opinion.

I'm not saying that it looks better than GTA - except from the graphics. And I don't see why it would be disappointing.
The game looks good, as any other game. Now, because you're still hyped for V, you have to compare it to V.

About your other post, why in the hell do you think that Assassin's Creed 3 would try to compete with GTA V?
They're completely different games, with different purposes. Even Watch Dogs is very different from V. So I can't see a point in comparing these games.

The only true competitor for GTA is Saints Row, that is pretty much it. Games such as, COD, Assassins Creed, Just Cause ect, are not direct competitors of GTA, as they are completely different games, and all have cross over fan bases. To use an example the COD series has a competitor in Battlefield, where people tend to buy one or the other. Whereas, there will be many people who will buy GTA V along with Black Ops 2, and Assassins Creed 3 (or whatever it is). Once more, I do not think there will be a new Saints Row game this year, so GTA does not have any direct competition.

GTA V has competitors ?? From when ?? Hmmmm, lets see.....

Saints Rows 3 ?? That is not what I'd even class as a GTA-style crime action/simulation game, it more looks like a game about futuristic military battles between warring factions taking place in a modern city. If SR3 was supposed to be anything like GTA, but better, then all I gotta say is that it is one BIG joke, it certainly blew its chance to do it. SR3 came out and passed by with not too many gamers taking notice or giving it any praise anyway, so it definitely is not a competitor to GTA V in any way.

Watchdogs looks great, but I'm gonna go with some of guys on here who reckon the gameplay is more linear than it looks. The graphics and the open-world city environment looks amazing, but that is where the similarity between Watchdogs and GTA ends. Watchdogs does not seem to the same kind of game as GTA, from what I know it is not about playing the role of a criminal/gangster. I don't think they are similar kind of games to really be comparing to each other. Competition against GTA V is highly unlikely.

Sleeping Dogs ?? I don't know too much about this game, except that it takes place in Hong Kong (at least that's what I've heard). Either way, it don't sound like much a threat to GTA V to me. Watchdogs is the only game right now that seems to be touted as GTA V's main competition, and that game don't even look like its got GTA-style gameplay anyway, so I very much doubt that Sleeping Dogs will fare any better. Competition ?? Of course not.

Assassin's Creed III ?? That is a historical-based game that does share open-world similarities with GTA, but again, that is it. The gameplay between AC3 and GTA V would just be too different to say that they are competitors. Was AC1 and 2 touted as a major competitor to GTA IV ? Of course not, so why should AC3 be now talked of as a competitor to GTA V ? Get outta here.....

Conclusion: GTA V has no competition, it has a complete stranglehold and monopoly on this open-world crime/action genre.
