This is an easy one for me, gonna have to go with Reservoir Dogs on this. Personally I think its a bit overrated but it is a great film. Many characters but all have great personalities, like QT took the time crafting them so they fit together nicely and spice up the dynamic. Put this under a very tensions event such as a failed robbery and you really get some interesting different people. OT pulled it off, there wasn't the need for huge budget to create big, memorable scenes such as the ear chop.

Dazed & Confused is a good highschool movie, really good but at the end of the day I will never get into a good highschool story as much as say a good heist movie. So really it makes it easy for me. Its a very good movie to relax too, smoke a spliff and have an enjoyable ride. However no scenes or characters stuck with me. Its a good experaince to have when watching but its not as memorable as Reservoir dogs.

Dazed and Confused is one of those movies that is really good at what it does.
it knows what it's supposed to be and doesn't try to be anything else.

it's a cult classic for a reason.
unfortunately this is also the reason why Reservoir Dogs is better.

Reservoir Dogs is one of the finest morality tales ever conceptualized.
it's easily the best anti-hero film I've ever seen perhaps next to Leon / The Professional. because it's not just the incredible storytelling and unforgettable personalities, it's the artistic direction of every cut and take; each scene is it's own little piece of art and each piece is near perfect.

starting with that long, uninterrupted shot at the beginning with that beautiful bit of dialogue between the main characters that sets everything up.
it seems so simple and uninspired at first - a group of men eating breakfast and discussing the proper way to tip a waitress - but once you're familiar with the movie you realize how profound their discussion was. it illustrates the subtle difference between each man's character and provides a lot of insight into their choices during the beautifully suspenseful climax.

Reservoir Dogs all the way.

As I already stated I can't call myself die hard Tarantino's fan. I think he made only two good movies (Pulp Fiction and Death Proof) and rest of them (especially Kill Bill or Inglerious Basterds) was a bit overrated.

Reservoir Dogs belongs to the other group. When you decide to turn movie about robbery upside down by not including heist scene, you should have something else to rely on. Quentin tried to rely on characters, but it didn't turn out so great, because he got two distinctive people there. One was Madsen (totally psycho) and second was Buscemi who in more distinctive because of his look than role that he had in that movie. Of course they try to interact with other characters by saying things that should be memorable, but I didn't recall much (except dialogue about giving tips).

I know it was Tarantino's debut as a director and he made great movie, but not as great to be on some high position of this list.


This topic shows me how many movies I've missed thru all these years. I've never seen DaC before, but recently I fixed that issue. Dac is using high school as a cover to tell about freedom, carefree lifes, but also about growing up.
Seniors are leaving school and younger people are taking their place. Seniors will have to decide about their future lives, but why not try to live free life for a moment? Why not push their adult life away for a while , by covering it with fumes of joints and alcohol.
I like the fact that movie is very chilled out, it's filled mostly with dialogues and fantastic music, yet it is very magical. It perfectly catches that moment of these people life. Their last moments of childhood and carefreeness.


I believe that Tarantino doesn't need two of his movies on some high positions on the list, so I'm giving my vote to Dazed and Confused.
