Wondering if this Rig that I'm building soon can run GTA IV and if so, on what settings? Medium? High?

CPU: Intel Core i5-3570K Ivy Bridge 3.4GHz (3.8GHz Turbo) 77W Quad Core
GPU: MSI Radeon HD 7770 GHz Edition 128-bit 1GB GDDR5
RAM: G.SKILL Sniper 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3
MB: ASUS P8B75-M/CSM Intel B75 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.8 Micro ATX

Note: I do realize that this isn't the greatest GPU but I'm only planning on spending 800$ at first, EVENTUALLY I will upgrade the GPU.

Also I was thinking of instead of a Radeon HD 7770 I was thinking of getting a Radeon HD 6850.

Thanks.

It would play GTA 4 at medium settings, limited by the graphics card.

Also, the micro ATX motherboard is questionable, not normal in a gaming pc.

What kind of motherboard would you suggest? And would I be better off with a Radeon HD 6850?

u're better of with a 6900 series GPU than that one. as u might know, AMD sometimes f*ck up the GPU series, so only the *800 and *900 is for gaming, and rest is worse than a whole older series

So a Radeon HD 6850 would be better than a 7770?

I suggest a normal sized ATX motherboard. I wont name one , but hopefully our resident build expert, yojo2, will advise you a build for your budget.

Yes, the 6850 is better than 7770, getting on for high settings, depending on the resolution you want.

the GTX 560 rapes the 6850 too hard: http://www.hwcompare.com/8891/geforce-gtx-...radeon-hd-6850/

The card you showed me was a 550 Ti not a 560. o_O

Also would It be better to throw out an extra ~$20 and get the 2GB version from EVGA? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814130652

Edit: Looking at hwcompare.com shows that the 550 Ti is worse than the HD 6850

lol, i'm really tired XD i mistaken took 560 as 550.

well, at there the 6850 is better.

f*ck, the 550 is 51% worse than the 6850 wow.gif.

i guess i gotta find another GPU for u XD

EDIT: ok, 184 to use then:P

EDIT2: ok, looked around and found several good GPU's in that price range:

Sapphire Radeon HD 6870 1GB: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814102948
PNY GeForce GTX 560 1GB: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814133397

there r alot more, but they're kinda the same GPU over and over again.

btw, this might be the 560 i had in mind XD: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814500229
tho, u'd have to expand ur budget even more to get this

For the mobo, I'd go with something like this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16813131781
And with the GPU, if you ask me, you're saving on the wrong places as that solution is not very future proof. These, however, are:-

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814161406 HD7850 2GB, very power efficient solution, $240 after rebate
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814127608 GTX560 2GB, 448 core, $250 after rebate

The first one is probably a bit slower (depends on the source and about a gazillion other parameters) but over time you'll save loads on the electricity and a lower power PSU will do. However, in this day and age it's getting increasingly difficult to recommend an AMD/ATI GPU product as their driver support is going anywhere but uphill. Their move to dismiss the monthly driver release doesn't sound very reassuring to me and it's very questionable what the future has in store for AMD GPU users.

This was my attempt at a build, it's over your budget a bit, but it has some free crap and $45 rebate on top of the total amount. I also went with 4GB RAM, maybe there are some special applications you use which would actually need more in which case you should add up that as well.

Good build, though IMHO a mobo with cooled VRM would be more suitable, like MSI Z77A-G45 (or even Z77A-G43). Also why GTX560Ti, not HD7850?

//edit: just looked through PSUs on newegg and I found this OCZ: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16817341051
It's a newer design than Thermaltake, it's fully modular and more powerful. Definitely a better bang for the buck.

Still, it's not like nVidia releases new drivers every month either. Last stable drivers were released in May, in March, in February, and... in October.
