| QUOTE (Steadying @ Monday, Jun 11 2012, 11:30) | | I just want a guy that's not a punk or a gangster and only does the stuff he's doing because he's pretty much forced to. And no childish gang crap, please. | Agreed! Aside from it being done over and over I find that sort of character very shallow and single minded "I'm killing for the sake of it and haven't really thought why I'm doing any of this" I do like the idea of having to kill for a reason, I mean iv never seen breaking bad but iv heard about it and that sounds clever and thought provoking "I don't really want to do this but iv got to" And one more thing, iv always wondered why they have never done a retired military man, maybe prematurely to account for the age of the character. This way you could easily explain the ability to fly planes, helicopters, drive tanks and know how to kill a person, hand to hand and with a weapon. I also think it would make for a good storyline, maybe a mental conflict with what's right and what he's been trained to do. Could be the older white guy? Just a thought.

^ You guys are still hung up on the Hispanic guy eh? He looks a bit generic, but whatevs. | Sorry, that Ned Luke guy just don't don't appeal to me. A middle-aged white guy in 40s/50s, now a washed-up, ageing mobster that wants to live in the suburbs ? Some older guy running around on a crime rampage and dealing with gangs and cartels, when he should be in his home living well in a house robe and slippers ? Nah, to me it sounds real boring and unsuited to the sunny, glamorous, fast-life, LA setting. I'd rather the younger, Hispanic guy - very plausible connections and dealings with LA street gangs and Mexican drug cartels, very exciting - plus he's younger and more 'with the times'.

Hispanic guy seems generic as the other guy said and a little bit obvious. What you described about Ned Luke guy is just what Rockstar is showing us. You don't know his background. He could have been a convicted rapist with a taste torture. He could have murdered his ex-wife cause the police tried to turn her over. So, I'm more intrigued by the mystery of Ned Luke rather than the more stereotypical Hispanic guy.

Why does everyone who doesn't want the Ned Luke guy to be the protag keep throwing around the word "mobster" in order to strengthen their case for him being cliche? There has been no indication whatsoever that he has mob ties. It's like calling the Hispanic guy a cholo or a street thug. We know nothing yet.

But still I just don't find his appearance and sound appealing to the LA-based setting. Yeah The Hispanic guy may seem generic in the sense that he's a younger guy, more streetwise etc - but let's face it a proper Hispanic gangster or freelance criminal has not yet been done in GTA before (Luis was not really any of those things, he only kinda got dragged into sh*t). Plus a Hispanic gangster is just very much more realistic and suited to the LA crime world. There is only so much variation and new ideas you can bring to the character of a GTA criminal gangster - he simply engages in organized crime for money and profit, and that is generally all there is to it. There is no need to make things more complicated and dramatic than they need to regarding the protagonist's personality. I just don't think there is a need for all this "I wanted a family and settle-down" stuff. So I'm sorry, but all that mystery and intrigue about that middle-aged Ned Luke guy just don't interest me. @ canttakemyid Yeah that is a good point from you too, we don't really know if he's a mobster. I'm just kinda using it as an example to get my point across more clearer that's all. Whatever the case is, I just don't want him as the only protagonist if there is only one, no way. However right now, I hate to admit it, there is a strong chance he might be, if it's just the one protagonist. Hopefully the multiple protag theory is what it is.
