@StreetMix Me thinks you're big blind valve hater. IMO as long as it's looking good without eating to much fps, i'm happy with it. And to be honest, i don't like how nowadays games prefers unrealistic looking engine, with soo much blur and bloom, plastic looking character, and super high requirement. For example, like Battlefield 3, there are so much unnecessary "blink blink". I mean, it's a war, war doesn't look "blink blink". That's why i prefer COD. And Street Mix, i think i'm gonna quote what sivispacem said. | QUOTE |
I see you haven't provided any information to back up your "GTA:SA is more critically acclaimed than HL2" comment. I notice, rather ironically, that you are a Max Payne lover? The third one is quite fluid and complex but one and two are just rail shooters, so whose the "linear" fan-boy now? |

IW is being flamed for updating id Tech 3 while Valve isn't. They both are doing OK with updating old engines but Source really needs a fresh. | In fairness, Source is an old engine that's been well-refreshed, and yes it look dated in some circumstances. But it implements lots of very impressive graphical and lighting capabilities that are seldom seen even in the newer engines that are available. The "overhauling the visuals" aspect is comparatively easy in comparison to building a bug-free, versatile and well-engineered basic engine like Source is (very difficult to argue against that, its one of the most stable engines available and the balance between performance and being compatible with all but the very worst system specs is bang on). And that's before we get onto the physics engine, with is still first-rate. Source is old, but its still got plenty of development capability left in it- partially because it was so well engineered in the first place, and partially because they didn't compromise on performance by building it for a console and then porting it to PC.
