We’d previously heard that Payday: The Heist developers Overkill are working on a game with Valve, but details were scant – all we knew is that it was Left 4 Dead related. Our megapals over at CVG cite a source as saying that it’s going to be a Left 4 Dead prequel which details the genesis of the zombie uprising.
“As perceptive gamers will have noticed, several hints have recently been dropped into Payday: The Heist, which has led to various rumors,” the original statement from Overkill read. “We are excited to be able to confirm that an in-depth collaboration between Overkill and Valve is currently in production. We are working on a very cool blend of Payday and Left 4 Dead.”
It’s a really nice idea for a collaboration. In Left 4 Dead you’re the good guys. In Payday, you’re the bad guys. Combining of the two, you could be a bunch of morally grey guys. Also, it’s a prequel, and everyone loves prequels, right? If not, don’t worry: Overkill are also working on a sequel to Payday: The Heist.
Actually Overkill isn't working with Sniper Elite 2 developers, they are working with the publishers, 505 Games, I guess. About the sequel thing, Bo (Overkill's CEO) said that it's a hoax and said it's only something about a hospital, a 'No Mercy' port maybe.
Let's hope they'll at least switch to a new engine.
Hahahahaha... oh you funny guy. L4D was brilliant. Awesome story, awesome atmosphere, hilarious and freaky/scary at the same time and f*cking superbly fluent and fun (AND replayable) co-operative experience!
The Left 4 Dead franchise is indeed brilliant. The games just offer the most chaotic fun you'll ever have. I had some memorable moments with friends in this games. My only complaint about game number 2 was the poor characters, except Nick of course.
If this is true and it's a prequel, then Valve really can't count to three.
EDIT: The video was marked as private some minutes ago, it seems they didn't mean to show the trailer now. For those who didn't watch it, it's a new downloadable heist for Payday where they have to steal a blood sample in a quarantined zone on Mercy Hospital, the same hospital from Left 4 Dead, but it happens before the outbreak.
EDIT 2: It seems Valve didn't like the information leak, the video was deleted from the main page. Happily, some guys reuploaded it, so enjoy!
