I would say almost every dream I have is a lucid dream. I can do anything I want - when I want it. All I have to do is think of a concept and it comes to life in my dream.

You lucky, lucky, sonavabitch. I am jealous to a high extent. I've been practicing (a bit on and off) for about 2 or 3 years and have had mild progress. My best was 2 lucid dreams in a week and I was f*cking estatic. But I've been reving up into full gear for the past few weeks, making sure to get things down in my journal and doing reality check. Actually... I'm going to set up my alarm right now so I can try out some other techniques. I really want to have a WILD, but that seems to require me having to had just come out of sleep no more than an hour prior, otherwise I can't complete the transistion.

I never have tried to but it seems I am different then others, when I was a small child nightmares never scared me; I liked them. Because of knowing I was dreaming I liked the feeling of being in danger, without any real life qualities at stake. I have done many things in dreams that would get me jail time in real lfe. Then again - I don't want to drink or smoke, but I can't stop myself in dreams lately. confused.gif

I think that lucid dreaming is just like a skill, such as soccer: some have a kind of talent for it, like you, and others really need to practice for it...

I have something a little different, when I am dreaming my body is moving in real life depending on what decisions I take in my dreams, sometimes good decisions turn out bad.
Is impossible to tell difference from dream and reality, my brain is making it damn believable.
Example: I am in a war preparing to throw a grenade at some enemies, when I suddenly wake up to realize that I just threw my phone out the window (from the 6th floor)...
The medication I started to take about 4 years ago seems to have helped a little.

That is because your body isn't turned off, right?
There is something in our brains that shuts off our body if we are dreaming, and you don't have that, right?

Yes, this happens when your brain is not properly ventilated (that's the word?)

When I was 10 or so I had a dream in which whenever I said the words "I wish" my dream would change. The problem was, each time I changed the dream they just got more nightmarish. In one of the dreams I was on a large inflatable slide, and the guy at the top who tells kids when to go turned into an evil clown, and the slide deflated until I almost suffocated. In another part I was in a den with my parents, and they began melting into a waxy elastic substance.

Not sure if it was really a lucid dream or not, but I did have some control over what I did in that dream, I remember actually thinking out when to say "I wish".

Another cool dream experience I had was being able to see friends during dreams. I would tell my friend that I saw him at place X in my dream, and he'd be able to describe me in his dream in a very similar place. Not sure if it was real, or if he was repeating what I fed him, but it was a neat thing to believe.

(edit: Spellcheck didn't catch "thinkinjg")

I had a really lucid dream last month where I went to sleep and immediately was standing in my living
room. I looked around and then turned back into my room. I seen my girlfriend sleeping in the bed
but I wasn't there. I went back to living room and from a position in the living room, I can see my
balcony (I live in a condo). The sky was weird looking, that's when I knew I was dreaming.

I never dream like that before...It was crazy. I felt like I was only there for 5 mins but when I woke
up It was morning.

A bad way is to look in a mirror, our brains are really bad at processing how those work and you'll look like a circus freak.

I had that happen a few times and it looked pretty realistic at times, but the image sort of blurs out as you examine it closely.

I have lucid dreams frequently, sometimes I realize I am dreaming from the start but sometimes I only realize during the dream, usually when something goes wrong.

I have started having some scary lucid dreams lately, you know, like the ones where you can't wake up. ph34r.gif
The last one I had was like one of those dreams where I am in my room doing normal stuff like in real life, but something goes wrong. Things in my room were getting swapped with old things and the light kept going on and off. Funnily enough, the light in my room doesn't work properly anymore (I don't know if it stopped working like normal before or after this dream). I wanted to wake up because the dream was freaking me out (something which I usually accomplish with ease) but I couldn't. I would close my eyes and go ape sh*t (my old method of waking up) but then I woke up in the dream again. Hardly, after a little while I woke up all sweaty and stuff.

Most of my lucid dreams used to involve a girl I very much liked (and still do somewhat). I sort of have this reoccurring lucid dream, but with slightly different locations in my city, where I become aware and I try to find my way to this girl's place. I never seem to find it because the streets change and it goes dark after a while and I wake up. Very rarely have I managed to see and talk to her.

I read that if you rub your hands when you are lucid dreaming you can stay in the dream for a longer period of time. However, remembering this is not very easy, I have only managed to remember that twice and it mostly worked, but the dream gets more flexible the more you want to stay, it transforms into something else eventually and you lose control (at least in my case).

I used to make things appear in my dream or get super powers, but I haven't really been able to make girls appear.

However, in one instance I was talking to a friend (in a dream) while this girl was passing by. My friend's answer to my question didn't make any sense and that made me realize I was dreaming, so, I jumped on that girl and the dream switched to a full sexual intercourse scene, but it only lasted a couple of seconds.

Anything is possible in the dream world, though becoming lucid doesn't grant you the ability to do whatever you want, it takes time to learn how to control it. If you want to do things real quick, before you really know how to control things, you can try to use your subconscious, which actually isn't that hard. For example, if you're looking for something, but can't spawn things yet, ask a dream character where that something is, and they'll probably tell you. That's how I get around my inability of control anyways.

My first lucid dream was a big deal to me. It only lasted a few minutes but I took my time to sort out what I wanted to do. There're are limited of techniques and the main techniques/methods are;

a) Keeping a dream journal so you can write down your dreams on awakening
b) Throughout the day, ask yourself if you are dreaming until it becomes a habit of asking
c) Just keep reality checking

F*CK F*CK F*CK, please forget I posted that. It's complicated.
I just read it and it seems sick as f*ck.

Just imagine it's not there.

Three-day bump just because I seriously feel like sharing this.

I probably just had a lucid dream today (today as in around 3 in the morning), and I think it's my first time. The dream was a compilation of several different things, but the one thing I really remember was me playing GTA IV.

The first part I remember was me driving through the streets of Broker. The most astonishing part of that was that I could literally think while dreaming. My thoughts were like: "Hey, why is this game running so smoothly on my computer (because I thought it was)?", and "Why is the sky so strange-looking?" The sky was really strange; it was at dusk and a weird orange/purple color. I could also recall deciding to turn left or right, but I had no control over the car's speed.

Another part was me apparently doing a mission for Pegorino; however, instead of me being in Alderney, I was in central Algonquin, parachuting down to a moving airplane. I remember the first time I failed and fell to a painful death, but instead of me just spawning back to the hospital, the mission quickly restarted. The next time, I saw a cutscene of me landing on the plane, but then I woke up.

It's just really awesome to me to have this type of dream, where I can make decisions in it.

A good way to tell if you're dreaming is hit a light switch or read a book, our brains aren't any good at processing that. A bad way is to look in a mirror, our brains are really bad at processing how those work and you'll look like a circus freak.

I'm glad to hear these are fairly common because I can always tell if I'm dreaming if the light switches are dead. And yeah, I've had the misfortune of using a mirror in dreams a lot with unsettling results e.g. I'll be invisible or my face will be distorted in a variety of emotions, typically ones that are very sinister. To make matters worse, my distorted reflection will sometimes start talking or making awful noises. These lead to a very abrupt awakening.

Another test my mind uses is to look at the color of the sky. For me it's typically a pink-purple mixture. This is the only test that doesn't freak me out, but I'll usually wake up once I'm aware I'm dreaming.

I actually had a very strong lucid dream a few days ago. Rather than having some 'tripwire' upset the whole thing, I just naturally became conscious of it. These seem to happen when my mind generates environments that have a lot of windows, glass and a lot of natural lighting. The only problem was I lost my sense of gravity and began hovering off the floor, and then it was over.

I have tried several times, most of cases resulting in failure. The closest I've got is hypnagogic audio hallucination - that being, hearing a voice saying my name when on the verge of total sleep paralysis. Suffice to say that freaked me out enough to knock be slightly awake, and as things go with lucid dreaming that means starting from the beginning. It's laborious but I intend to try it again, sounds fantastic.

I have two questions;

- While lucid dreaming, are you aware of the concept of time? As in, is it possible to extend time in your dream?
- Is it literally just like real life - can you recall lucid dreams as vivid as real life?

Been trying to lucid dream for a few days now with no luck. sad.gif

What would this be? The other night my dream ended badly, I was being attacked in shower then I started screaming, while asleep but actually conscious I was screaming.

I think both vary from person to person and dream to dream. For me, I've been aware of time passing before, but it isn't something I've though to try and influence. And yeah, some lucid dreams seem incredibly real and I can often recall them just as well, if not better, than things that have actually happened. It's not exactly like real life of course because you're aware that it's a dream, but it still feels real, if that makes sense.

I started as kid; I had either control or awarness but I've always been able to read in dreams. As a teen I began to have both and since the last 5 years I've been able to get past that "you can't turn lights on and off" thing. Infact the most vivid lucid nightmare started with the lights off, I turned them on and decided that leaving the nightmare wasn't the right thing so I stayed and faced it - scariest / coolest thing I've experienced in a dream. I begun to control the sunlight recently a few times.

I actually have a very odd syndrome that is related to having VERY lucid dreams, but it comes with a cost. Anesthesia has almost no effect on me. I have had full anesthesia awareness, and even became mobile [I grabbed the hose that was in my throat]. Lucid dreaming can be caused by under lying health problems/ anomalies.

I think I have only actually lucid dreamed once. I made some house deteriorate at a fast speed then made it repair itself.

I do however have a lot of dreams where I don't realize that I am dreaming but have full mental capacity. I'll make decisions and do stuff but not have that ability to do whatever I want because I don't know I am dreaming.
