San Andreas and Vice City are main games. Like Senex Iunior said, it's new cities etc. Yes, they are in the III-era, but all of III, VC and SA sold around the same amount of copies each. |

I smell bullsh*t...  "Stand-alone titles, new chars, new time periods" is what difines LCS and VCS aswell. But..."new cities"? My ass! From GTA III onwards, there is no such thing as "New City", just remodelling of the old GTA 1 cities. It's so obvious that the main titles are the ones with numbers. Geez, man.  You're so wrong, none of the GTA games are in 2D, except for the GameBoy Color ports of GTA and GTA2. You can tell by this:  Just because it's in a top down view, doesn't mean it's 2D.  "Remodelling", i may have chose the wrong word there, but still, it doesn't change my point. There are no "New Cities" after GTA2. Just always Liberty City, Vice City and San Andreas, like in GTA1:  I will not even argue about Vice City and San Andreas being spin-offs of GTA III, you look to be mindclosed.

I agree about VC and SA not being what people consider "main games". GTA 1,2,3,4 and soon to be 5 are the "main games" in the series. Going by the logic of people against that, LCS, VCS, and CTW would also be main games, just because they are on a portable console doesn't mean they are less important. In that case, GTA 3 would also be a "sub-game" since it's out on Android and IOS. Sales don't mean crap either.
Also, anyone who thinks GTA 1,2 and CTW are in 2D is a moron.
On Topic: I think Claude is the face of GTA. This is not about who is the best, it's about who is the most Iconic protagonist. Just look at the GTAForums logo, who is that holding an UZI?
It even seems Rockstar like him the most, being a protagonist in two games already and also having an official action figure.

...GTA 3 was originally released on PS2 ten years ago. The fact that it was re-released a full decade later on the iOS and Android is rather irrelevant. I never did say that LCS or VCS weren't "important", either- I loved VCS; all I said was that they aren't major titles. Also, both of you are rather defensive when I haven't made a single argument from sales figures. Argue against what I actually say. Where people refer to GTA from III onwards as the "3D era", I refer to GTA 1 and 2 as part of the "2D era" even though it's a misnomer. @ClaudeSpeedRulez: I'm not closeminded, it's just that your single argument is predicated on names only ("Liberty City is used in three different games; therefore, IT'S THE SAME CITY EVERY TIME!"/""Vice City is not named Grand Theft Auto IV; therefore, IT'S NOT A MAJOR TITLE!"). |
