The LC in III has nothing to do with the LC in IV. They are like different places. I also don't understand why IV's LC is trash. Compare the Times Square in GTA III with the one in IV, IV wins absolutely. Maybe it's nostalgia? confused.gif

Maybe its a different core system. With better graphics cards. U seem to think i dont liek the visuals or think GTA III is better. I dont like Rockstar Ideals. I know one thing for sure...Im not one that follows games for graphics or engineering like u. Is that really the only way u can argue my claim? Nothing about it having better gameplay or characters or nothing. Cuz (GTA IV) is just a big open city u where u can skydive off buildings and play online. U can do way more in San Andreas. Idk who the f*ck u guys think ur kidding...Who raves about this franchise anymore?? NO1. Ever since Saints Row came out....its like rockstar had their balls between their legs trying to compete with Saints (in terms of size of map and visuals) They wont thrive on visuals alone ill tell u that...lets see them dig themselves out with GTA V.

Saint's Row is awful. The cutscenes and characters are embarrassing. Reminds me of a bunch of rich suburban kids trying to play gangster.

That game sucks. I hate all the ghetto sh*te...

i have to disagree with the OP i think that the liberty city we see in GTA IV is amazing and the detail of it is just so great and it is a living city and i admit it has taken a while but iv is my favorite gta now, san andreas was ok but i am really not a fan of the vast countrysides and deserts i prefer a busy city like liberty and vice city as well

Ur right it is amazing. I was just Playing Gay Tony a few hours ago. I must say the fact that they include the original Achievements from the original story line is pretty cool too. My beef with GTA IV though is the same as urs with San Andreas if u think about it. the "New" Liberty City is too vast for my taste in the sense that I cant ever remember where im at. There isnt a whole lot in that map that I can look at and correlate with past memories (GTA III). Which I suppose was the whole point. To douche out the old and Start out new. I cant help but feel like since the time San Andreas came out and the success that that had...It almost feels like they went mainstream with their approach. A lot like the other developers have done with their games. What is mainstream u ask? Well just the whole ridding themselves of the "old" is what I consider to be mainstream. Nowadays at least....it seems like if any idea doesnt work in the slightest... they (game developers) throw away the idea completely and start fresh. Which is something I have never believed in. I try to find the beauty in everything. But how do u do that when something is constantly changing....I.E. Epic Games haha

I disagree with everything the OP just said. This was the best representation of NYC in a video game, EVER.

You have to remember times have changed though. I'll admit if GTA IV was just GTA III's LC slightly updated I would've been very annoyed.

I mean it's like you keep thinking R* don't care about GTA III. They did celebrate its 10 anniversary and besides isn't better to play the original game if you want it to provoke old memories?

Speaking as a hardcore VC fan I wouldn't have a problem if R* completely redesigned VC because I can always play the original if I want to relive the old days.

Your all forgetting the fact that no American city council is going to want thier city portrayed in a controversal video game series that provokes players to kill cops an interact wth hookers ect. Thats why Liberty city is a"characture" of New York and not full rendition. Thats why Los Santos will be characture of LA.Why do you think that GTA does not use the real Vehicles? ..... car manufacturers dont want thier product associated with a violent video game series.Get used to it because it will be forever this way.

As for Vice city.... the 80`s are over and so is Miami`s reputaion as a crime captital. You wont see VC in a GTA game again unless R* take a whole new direction for the series.

Look they wouldn't have to make 3 different Story Lines if the game was solid. (GTA IV) So yea...the "map" for GTA IV is great. Not a very memorable story though. And It doesnt blend in with the environment. One thing the previous games hit on very well. Yes even GTA III with its "primitive ways" competes with GTA IV in my view. Simply based on the fact that they had a better formula. I dont even think its something that can be duplicated or rehearsed. Just one of those things where they got lucky i suppose. but it is rockstar. And they have millions. so nothing is too far fetched for them.

What do you mean it doesn't blend in with the environment? GTA IV's story is superb IMO. EFLC was just a way of providing different points of view from key points of the main story while supporting their own back stories. Playing each game gives the illusion that the other two are occuring at the same time.

It was genius on R*'s part blending 3 stories occuring at the same time.

"It was genius on R*'s part blending 3 stories occuring at the same time." Thats a marketing shceme sir. To make it seem like their story didnt have holes. If u look at it in a positive light...then i suppose it seems different to u. But i was just playing it....one screenshot with Niko in the cinematic (TBoGT) isnt enough to convince me that they DIDNT have holes in their story line. Not sayion III didnt have that...but were talking change right? Like Obama? But just more of the same dick.

Every GTA has plot holes. Not just GTA IV. confused.gif

It's not like they're very severe. You can finish the whole story with it feeling like there's closure. Sorry, but it annoys me when GTA IV gets criticized for something every GTA is guilty of.

Well hold on now. Ur saying ur getting upset by my critical enlightenment of this game...but that still doesnt change its position. U say every GTA is Guilty? Maybe so. But non stand to the Mighty Inconsistency of GTA IV brethren. Believe that. TBoGT was the worst in terms of consistency but more enjoyable than Original GTA IV Story. Remember this is all from within ME. I speak for Me.

Could you provide examples of these apparently mighty inconsistencies? IV had the best story of all GTA's, btw.

I got GTA IV just a few months ago and finished playing it about a month ago, I rather enjoyed it more then GTA III and GTA LCS, it's just got more stuff to do, the cars, graphics and realism feels better, the cops aren't great but compared to others they're much more smart, I also enjoy the fact you don't get shot two times and die like you would in GTA III and GTA LCS.

Are you kidding me? U dont see the story line and how random it is? Those missions don't connect to a single dot. Its like GTA III. Except III had a valid excuse. It was the "experiment". My point for bringing up GTA IV's inconsistency is this: Yes while it may have more substance than GTA III ... that isnt saying a whole lot. Its supposed to be ROCK SOLID. And it is not. Do you want to know whyy? Rockstar focused their energy on "douching" their original map instead of letting it be and basing the area in another city or state...thats why. I felt like I was in the twilight Zone when I popped that into my xbox. "Liberty Statue? WTH?" You can say whatever u want. That story line is not at its best. Which is why they made 3 of em. And not just because its a big city and they had to cover more instances with its town folk. Maybe that IS why. But if this is what Rockstar is calling "change"...then count me out. GTA IV is not a memorable game by any standards. Except maybe the memories that sprout due to its lack of correlation.

So your argument is R* had to make 3 different storylines instead of one? Maybe just maybe R* wanted to try something different? Also GTA IV's story isn't random ffs.

Sure it had filler missions (what GTA doesn't?), but anyone who couldn't see the overall picture has obviously never played the game properly.

"Never played the game properly" Cmon man U know that doesnt make sense. I didnt come on here to have a half-assed debate HAHA I have no problem with change but I do have a problem with "utter disposal". If u really want me to speak my mind...I don't think GTA will ever revisit its past. Not a big deal though. And FYI I can see the big picture for the First installment of GTA IV. The end never justifies the means though my dude.

But seriously, your ramblings are an incoherent mess, bad grammar aside. Let me boil it down:
You loathe the fact that III's LC has finished. Fair enough. What exactly are we supposed to argue? Is this a "IV is sh*t" thread or something more?

You haven't answered any of my questions, and instead have just prattled on about yourself. No one cares about your patience or your physical states on the internet. Let's say what happens when your patience depletes; then what? Will you get mad? Seriously, think before you type out sh*t.

You talk like you are confined and forced to post here in this thread, and that somehow your opinion is holier than thou. This board isn't here so you can vent off your hormonal challenges. It's for discussion about IV. And you haven't delivered nor supported any.

Meh.

I have never played any of the newer console GTA's. I like the old ones. I have no desire to spend money on a newer machine.
