Hope I'm in the correct section.
After years of playing GTA games on PS2/PS3, I always wanted to mod my GTA games (mainly with cars).
So anyway's what would be a good PC (price range) to run San Andreas with car mods and Enb, and it won't lag much, I'm not planning to play GTA IV on it, so it don't have to be beast of a PC

At that range, you'd probably be best off buying a prebuilt dual core/2Gb system with a decent power supply and just tossing an 8800/9800GT in it.

I'm assuming you're using a laptop or a crazy old computer right now? Start checking around craigslist and see what computers you can turn up under $175 or so.

Right now I use a HP ProBook 4520s with integrated graphics, it's a good machine but not for gaming hehe

Yeah you may even be able to find a decent prebuilt for less than that. But keep in mind you'll also need a graphics card, and monitor/mouse/keyboard if the PC you find doesn't come with them.

Forgot to mention, make sure the PC has a PCI-Express x16 slot, and preferably a 300-400w power supply.

Sa ran on very high for me on my old PC with these specs:
2gb ram
And athlon 64
256 MB video

It might be worth adding that trying to run SA under Win7 with a multicore cpu is going to present some problems. The only way I can get the mouse to work in the game is to set the compatibility to any OS then disable visual themes, disable display scaling, run as administrator, then I have alt+tab out of the game open Task Manager > Processes and right click on gta-sa.exe > set affinity to only one core, go back into the game and press escape about 100 f*cking times, then suddenly the mouse starts working in game. I have to go through that bullsh*t every single time I want to play the game.

So my suggestion would be to dualboot windows XP if you plan on using windows 7. I'm not sure if the mouse problem is present under Vista.

Other than that, I'm not sure how much of a demand running enb on SA is. You may want to do some searching to see what the required gpu/cpu/ram specs are. I've ran enb on IV and it'll bog my 6970 down a bit, but I haven't tried it with SA.

Sounds like a software problem specific to your system. I run on two dual cores with Win7 x64 and have never had any of those problems with SA.

To get SA 1.0 running on my W7 64-bit computer, I have to run in Windows 98 compatibility mode. This wierdly created a new savegames folder with the exact name. Only problems I have running SA is that landing gear doesn't work, even if I redo the controls.

For the specs of a new computer running San Andreas. I would say get at least a Sandy Bridge Pentium D, 4GB ram. Not sure graphics wise. I've gone off ENB.

My GF runs SA 1.0 in 7 64-bit and doesn't have to do anything special, like compatibility mode, to get it to run.
She also uses a no-cd exe that I gave her and have been using since SA came out.

Her specs are my old system: C2Q Q8200, 4GB RAM, 9800GT.
However when I first started playing SA on XP I ran an AMD XP 3200+, 3GB (physically 4GB), 6800GS AGP.

A lot of people have mouse problems under win7. My old system is a Q6600, 8800GTS, 4GB RAM with win7 Pro x64 and it has the same problem with the retail, steam and cracked versions of the game. Maybe having more than 2 cores is the problem. Maybe the mouse is the problem. Whatever the cause, I'm just giving a heads up that there is a chance this game will act like a bitch on some win7 systems.

The GTX 560 makes it run like a wonder. Make sure to install it in conjunction with a properly installed 500 watt (minimum) PSU.

Why in hells name would you need or even want a £200 GPU to run such an old game? You could comfortably run it on maximum settings for an entire build costing about that much.

I have the same mouse problem with Win7. Dosn't work in the menu, but it does when actually playing.

Mouse problem is most likely related to new CPUs. What you have to do is to type this in Start -> Run to run the game:

C:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe /C start /affinity 2 >executable< /d ">installpath<"

Of course replace the >installpath< with the directory the GTA was installed in, and >executable< with the GTA's executable name. For example, this is how the whole command looks when I want to run GTA3:

C:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe /C start /affinity 2 gta3.exe /d "D:\Gry\GTAIII"

You might also try to change affinity from 2 to something other (from 1 to number of cores).

I don't think it is. I use Vista, and I don't have to go through the tedious process you have to do to run the game, but the mouse sometimes locks up after pausing and unpausing the game.

This issue happened to me on both Vista and 7.
