This sounds like another post, but I do not have a downloaded copy. I bought my PC DVD set at Fry's. The installation runs fine for disk 1 but when I am prompted to change to disk 2 I get a "catastrophic error" with no further description and the installer shuts down. There are no scratches or smudges on disk 2 that are visible. I have tried copying the disks to a file on my desktop and installing from there, but I get the same results. When I emailed Rockstar, their only advice was to try installing it on a friend's computer. I do not have that option open to me. My own computer is still running Windows XP, but I do have Service Pack 3.5 installed. Do you know anyone who might be able to give me some advice?

You should try replacing those disks for new ones at the store.
