I added a bunch of car mods and none of them are showing up, has anyone else experienced this and how do I fix it? The ones I added before today still appear, but the ones added today do not!

Update: I'm really confused.. Every time I add cars in SparkIV, they don't stay there.. After I add them I save and then rebuild archive.. Anyone have an idea what is going on? The cars I added before are still there and I can still add new guns and modify the cars in the 3 text files but I cannot change the model and texture of the car? I need help, please!!!

in spark iv just click "save". don't click rebuild or it will restore the archive as it originally was.
------------------------------------------------------------
the cars won't show up right away when you're playing.
they might not show up at all if they are high poly models (because of the amount of memory the game has to load in).
if you have a bunch of high poly mod cars, you'll start to get what is called "taxi bug".
basically, the game in it's vanilla form, will, after several car groups have passed, load taxis to "refresh" it's memory.
if the memory is overloaded, it'll do this continuously because the game thinks it's running on 2006 xbox 360 and is trying to conserve memory.
-----------------------------------------------------------

to answer your question:

to get the car models to appear, use ikt's mod called "traffic load":

http://www.gta4-mods.com/script/trafficload-f9780

traffic load spams random cars and helps prevent taxi bug. after awhile, it'll start to spam the car mods as well if not most of the time.
make sure you have a lot of vram (at least 2gb on your vid card) because it will primarily pick the cars with the largest file size first after awhile.

another way to spawn your mod cars is to use something called "car spawner":

http://www.gta4-mods.com/script/carspawner...ersion-22-f2289

spawn your mod car, and after awhile you'll start to see that car appear often in the car group.
it causes taxi bug, so make sure you are using traffic load as well.

Thanks, the cars are now there.. Can't believe I was screwing it up this whole time..lol

My video card only has 1GB, that might be why I am having problems with the game not loading the background scenery like building and lagging more when I drive.. Is there a way to fix this?

why yes
there is!
in the main directory, you might already have a commandline.txt file you created with notepad, if not do so now.
in commandline (since you have 1 gb of vram) put this in

-availablevidmem 4.2

you'll be tricking the game into thinking you have more vram that you should and it may or may not compensate depending on how many cars you have.

the next solution (and best one) is to limit the amount of modded cars that you have at one time,

for example, i have 1.5 gb of memory so i only use modded cars for supercars like the turismo or infernus.
and i have a modded bike or two, and i put in a new bus. but other than that. if i start to see clipping and things in the backdrop i know i have
too many cars so i delete a few. you'll need a backup of the original cars.
not sure where you can find one but they are available. i think there is a guy who has one on youtube.

I have a commandline.txt, the availablevidmem was set to 25.0 before I put in what you suggested.. Here is how mine now reads..

norestrictions
-nomemrestrict
-percentvidmem 100
-availablevidmem 4.2
-refreshrate 60

you should delete "-percentvidmem 100" because it caps your memory and also delete "-refreshrate 60" because it's superfluous and that option is already included in-game. smile.gif
