The 480 is, overall, the slightly quicker card. However, it begs two questions from me.

One, why are you looking at 3-4 year old GPUs as opposed to newer ones, especially with the amount you appear willing so splash out on Ivy Bridge processors in your other thread.

Two, why didn't you ask in the "have a question" topic? These queries really aren't worthy of threads of their own.

The GTX 480 is better, however I would advise going with the GTX 570. It's a newer card and runs substantially cooler than the GTX 480.

If you can, the best option would be to go with a GTX 670. It blows both those cards away.

IMHO these two cards have the same performance. GTX480 is cheaper, while GTX570 runs cooler and draws less power.

Indeed, that's the question: why do you want either of these?
If you have that amount of money, you should rather go for a GTX 670 or something in that direction.

GTX 480 and 570 are still very decent cards. Even 560 Ti is great. Just depends on the budget. I'd go for a 570 over a 480 though. If, somehow, you can afford the 670 instead, go for it.
