Hi there, I'm trying to run GTA SA:MP on my macbook (which btw has already proven its ability to run GTA,SA with the app store version). To play SA:MP, I needed to get the windows version, then the SA:MP client, both installed with wine. Now, unfortunately, I can't play it because of the "800x600x32 video mode not found" error. I realize I could use an adapter to plug an external monitor up to the mac, but I can't seem to find the right one. I have an HP monitor. Is there any other way to play? I would be immensely grateful to anyone who could take a few brief moments to either explain an alternate solution, or confirm that an HP monitor is the best and only way to resolve the 800x600x32 video mode error.

A few more details...

I really only want to play SA:MP with some friends.
I have the option to have 800x600 screen resolution on my computer, but to no avail.
My computer specs are...

Processor: 2.16 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
Memory: 1 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM

I think this might be better handled in the Tech & PC Chat sub-Forum.

Wine is rad, but not always rad enough. Any reason you don't have a bootcamp installation of windows 7?

I have never tried Bootcamp, but mainly because I don't have a windows installation disk. Can you use a downloaded iso? And would that possibly fix the error?

You should be able to run XP or 7 in bootcamp.
Legally no you cannot just download an ISO and use that.

It's likely that would fix the error. I've heard of others using bootcamp or Parallels on a Mac and running GTASA.

Hi their,
Did you try using Windows 8 Final Preview?
You can get it HERE.
I'd recommend using IMG Burn to burn the ISO.
I'm not entirely sure if Windows 8 works with bootcamp though.

Ok, I just tried using bootcamp, but I'm getting errors all the way through. It's saying that some files cannot be moved, and I have absolutely no idea what that means. This is very aggravating, so I want to thank you guys again for helping, and please share if you have any solutions.
