Directed by Brick (2005) director, Rian Johnson...

From IMDB..
In the year 2042, a mob hitman assassinates targets that arrive from the future of 2072. For him it's just a job... till he receives a new target: himself from the future.

If I was so gay, I would so totally bang JGL. I'm such a big fan of his work. From 50/50 to 500 Days Of Summer, he oozes out awesomeness. Nice to see him being in an action flick for once, will be catching this. This looks really original.

Im still trying to come to terms with the fact that this is who the dweeby teen from 3rd Rock turned into.

Anyway, quite excited for this. An interesting take on time travel that's obviously going to deal with ideas of fate. I cant help but think though, it looks like the struggle with killing your future self will be the main issue, but if you think about it it'd be great. You KNOW for certain how and when youre going to die. Think.what youd be able to do in 30 years if you were kind of invincible.

To his credit, it's great to see a child actor not turn into a complete f*cking trainwreck and still working in film (along with guys like Leo, Sean Astin, Josh Brolin, and Mark-Paul Gosselaar).

Anyway, this looks pretty interesting. I wonder how the whole "if future him kills present him, he'd cease to be" thing might come into play.

Movie looks interesting especially with Gordon-Levitt and Willis, but the plot is bit cheap. We've already have movies when hitman has to kill someone close to him. The only difference is fact that he has to kill himself. Kinda cheap if you ask me, but movie still can be good. I'm looking forward to it.

How is it "cheap" as you put it ? Because its been done before ?

Even if the story isn't that original at its most basic level it doesn't matter. As long as the take on it is interesting and the characters a good

It's cheap, because it is most typical situation for that kind of plot. Imagine that you're hitman and you kill people from the future. Boom, one day you have to kill yourself. It's almost like some kind of Murphy's law. It's extremely predictable for story based on hits and time travels.

I'm not saying that movie will be bad, because with Gordon-Levitt (who proved many times that he is great actor) and Willis (a bit dimmed but still shining movie star) it can be great. If they will manage to create interesting characters (and I bet they will) it will be good movie. Story may be weak, though. "today" hitman can't kill himself from the future, "tommorow" hitman got very important information about the future and about his employer so "today" hitman decides to drop the job and kill employer instead Of course I may (and I probably will) be wrong here, but as you can see the story can be extremely predictable.

I see where Tycek is coming from to an extent but I don't know the ending or how Lovetts character is going to deal with the situation which has me interested. Will they team up and go against the mob? What repercussions will it have if he lets his future self exist in the past/Lovett's present? How will this be resolved? That alone makes for an interesting story we don't know the answer to.

I like both of these actors. Bruce Willis has these charm and sort of street-wise wit about him and Lovett is certainly an interesting actor.

This, and because JGL has quickly turned into one of my favorite actors. Manic, Mysterious Skin, Brick, The Lookout, (500) Days of Summer, Inception, Hesher, 50/50 and The Dark Knight Rises (though we've yet to see this performance) - this dude has proven he's got an immense talent and passion for what he does, and may turn out to be the star that Heath Ledger was surely on his way towards becoming.

Not to mention this looks cool and I'm willing to check out almost anything with Bruce Willis.

I still haven't put JGL into my actors I watch out for yet, but I am aware and the name brings my attention so hopefully this will be a movie that sways me. Still a bit unsure about bruce willis, I like him in very action orientated movies and thats sort of typecasted him for me, not in a bad way but sort of just can't remember the last film I really had a connection with bruces characters since like Die hard, well ok not die hard but well I did like his Sin city character quite a bit, he got the style it needed and it drew me in. I just don't know he he can nail the sort of quirky ness I think his character needed. Subtlety done so it has the action edge but also just some flavor. If that makes any sense.

Agreed. And overall he's just a nice guy; really supportive. Working on hitrecord projects with him is a blast.

Yeah Brick was great and it will be interesting to see the directors take on this genre will be like. Going by Brick, I think the director can being some creativity and intelligence to an action/sci-fi genre.

I'm curious to see how the whole thing is handled, e.g would Future Hitman know everything that Present Hitman is going to do? He obviously knows the assassination procedure (in the trailer he blocks the shot with armour on his back) being that he is the same guy, but does he know how all the events will play out? Did the same thing happen to Future Hitman when he was younger?

It will certainly be interesting, looking forward to this. smile.gif

Bruce Willis and Joseph Gordon-Levitt star in this movie, it's set to be released in theaters on September 28th. I saw the trailer the other day and this looks like a very interesting film, very excited to see it.

I can't see this movie because of the line: "In the future the mob controls time travel."

That's just too stupid, even for me.

lol!
that's exactly what I thought when I first saw the trailer.
I was like what?? are you kidding me?

if humans ever invent time travel, the government is going to horde that sh*t like gold at Fort Knox.
no one else will be allowed to use it, let alone have complete control over it. especially some criminals, that's ridiculous.
