Then my new theory is.....
The "expiration date" of the Paintjobs depend on the car/mothership.

My Sultan's paintjob got lost too.

I thought you couldn't store cars during a mission.

You can't SAVE during a mission.
There are plenty of things you can do. Like go get weapons, body armour, food.
A good example is when CJ doesn't enter the Jefferson Motel in "Reuniting the Families" and goes off to get the Oysters, Horseshoes, Snapshots, so he'll have the Arms Caches when he opens the other Islands waiting for him.
Or When he gets dumped in the ocean and can rearm himself before going aboard the ship.
Or when he helps out Cesar to take back the neighbourhood, and goes to get more body armour from the sidewalk cafe.
There are only a few missions that 'trap' CJ where he can't leave.

Then, why walkthrough always say that must dump the SWAT tank that appears during "End of the line" in the ocean? If you can store cars during missions, you don't even need to fail the mission, you can just drive the tank to a garage after you're crushed the wall, then return to complete the mission.

I've found this video that shows what I'm saying, I'll look for more.

I'd have to run too many tests to be sure what's going on with the SWAT in End of the Line, but in general, you can't save cars that were created by the current mission in a garage. Usually, if the car can't be repaired in the garage then it won't be saved either.

My guess is that for the SWAT in EoL you can either 1) dip the vehicle in water or blow it up with satchels in a garage before breaking the wall, which will fail and end the mission and allow the car to be saved, or 2) break the wall and allow the mission to remove references to the vehicle so it acts like any other randomly generated car, which would normally disappear when CJ enters the building, or, like you said, simply park it in a garage.

You won't need to blow it up you could always park it in a garage and blow it up.
