I was driving the Phantom tractor truck past a truck trailer in IV and remembered, "weren't you able to attach one of those to the truck in the original top down GTA?"

That jogged my memory and I started recalling a whole list of missing features I remember from past GTA games:
  • Attachable Truck Trailers
  • Tow Trucks
  • Car Mod Shop
  • Jets
  • Prop planes
  • Harrier jet / VTOL (vertical take-off and landing)
  • Jetpack
  • Police Bribes
  • Flame Thrower
  • ElectroGun (GTA2)
  • Gym that changed your physical appearance
  • BUY property
  • Large Desert (SA)
  • Railway (SA)(Metro doesn't count)
  • Instant Death by Water tounge.gif
Did I miss any?
Would be nice if someone on the Dev Team saw this and brought a few of these back biggrin.gif

Added later:
  • The HUGE and environmentally diverse map
  • Tank
  • Controlling the train
  • Bicycles
  • RC missions (remote control cars/planes)
  • Indoor Garages
  • Running Bus routes (GTA2)
  • Weapons spawns added outside your hideout as rewards for collecting secret packages
  • Fart and burp button
  • Pager
  • Loading Screens tounge.gif
Domeux added:
  • Recruit gang members to follow you
  • Taking over gang territory
  • Chainsaws
GTASAIDEAMASTER added:
  • Pizza
  • Diving and exploring under water
  • Katanas, dildo
  • Police Station interiors
  • Police on police bikes
  • Different Police uniforms in each city/borough
  • Countryside
  • Jetski
asitsaysinthebook added:
  • Wider range of clothes
Metzger added:
  • Purchasing businesses (can't remember if these were different from buying regular property)
  • Flamethrower
  • Silenced 9mm
  • Burglary/Robbery missions
  • Stealth kills with a knife (pretty sure I saw this at the beginning of GTA IV, but can't replicate)
toni cinpriani added:
  • Dual wielding certain weapons
ZoomZoom added:
  • Parachutes (added in BoGT)
  • Combine Harvesters
  • Weapon Skills improve with use
MikeMyth added:

you pretty much nailed everything icon14.gif ... Car Modding deffintaly... i liked the gym aspect and wish upon MORE clothing, shoes, jackets... ECT... LOVE San Andreas clothing line up!!!!!

i hated the instant death by water... LOL... i always wondered why we had boats but Claude and Tommy would drown... haha

buying/owning property NEEDS to come back... i loved how i felt when i OWNED business in Vice City/San Andreas...

i feel as if R* will make a valiant come back in V... My personal thought is that IV was the testing ground of what the PS3 could do/handle... and now they are going put San Andreas (like the old days) into IV's Tech.

Well Stacked Pizza.I miss eating pizza instead of eating burgers everywhere or hotdogs.
Going underwater. Kind of missed that on GTA IV.It would be good to have a detailed underwater with misteries and sh*t.
Katanas,dildos...Mainly more melee.
Police Station interiors.
Challenging missions
Police bikes actually used by the police.
Different police uniforms for each city/borough
Countryside
Jetski from VCS
Empire Building from VCS
Having your own followers(gang...)

I can't remember anymore now.

More clothes and ways to change Niko's physique. I'm sure Niko wasn't meant to be as chubby as his stomach looked. In all outfits.

Actually, there are seven things that I miss:

a) An opportunity to purchase business properties and additional safe houses.
b) A gym where you could do some work out.
c) A chop shop where you could tune up your wheels.
d) Flamethrower and silenced 9mm.
e) Burglary missions.
f) Ability to perform a stealth kill with a knife.
g) Completely black sun glasses.

Vehicle mods would've been nice, but I really don't miss anything. I appreciate the game for what it is not what it isn't. When I play nothing from the GTA III era even comes to my mind to be honest.

The one thing that I most missed from the previous games was the wide variety of cheats, specifically the fun ones. In GTA SA, tons of fun could be had by combining the riot cheat with the cheat that makes everyone armed with weapons.

I agree with everything except all the jetpack, lasers, future crap, etc. This isnt saints row the third, gta is known for being unrealistic but that stuff is just dumb imo. Theres a difference between good realism and bad realism in games, gta iv took somewhat of a bad route, there could have been a lot more that would keep the realism but not go to far ott. Adding jetpacks would make it to ott. But i agree 100% with bigger world, gyms, more clothes. If gta v took some stuff from gta iv and sa it would be golden

To be honest, the two things that I missed the most from past GTA (well SA to be precise) is stealth kills and the silenced pistol. I thought that they would have fitted well in IV what with Niko being an ex-soldier with fighting skills and all. confused.gif

I really do hope that stealth and a variety of silenced weapons are implemented in GTA V.

Well desert is a no brainer, but NY state does have countryside.. It's not really apart of NYC's world wide image though.

It would've felt weird IMO. When I think of NYC I think of the Statue Of Liberty, Times Square, Central park, The Empire Sate Building etc. Not the forests in the surrounding areas.

I don't believe he said anything about not being a fan of SA and even if he isn't who cares?

Thought of another one, "Weapons spawns added outside your hideout as rewards for collecting secret packages"

I was so disappointed when I learned that hunting down those pigeons didn't give you anything until you killed all 200 of them, and even then all you got was a helicopter spawned somewhere far from any safe-house, and that you could find someplace else already.

Made the whole thing extremely boring and rather pointless. confused.gif
