i would like to play the mp of gta iv but i cant login to windows live and social club because i use http proxy, is there a way to change their connection settings?

no ive not downloaded anything just installed and played the game, k i'll update to patch 7, but will that connect me via my proxy connection?

If you set the global wininet proxy it should work as afaik GFWL uses wininet library to connect online.

proxy, because its the only way to get a fast connection. i installed the patch 1.0.7.0(not the link) but is like it changed my game to eflc, when i open the game i see gtaiv on the left (with the start botton) then eflc on the right (with the sign in button), dont know if this is a problem

seeing the extra game on your menu screen is not a problem

As far as I know, go to control panel > internet options > connections tab > lan settings button > check "use a proxy server..." and input your data there. Once you have this setup, every application which connects through wininet should use that proxy server.

You can probably force the traffic through freecap http://www.freecap.ru/eng/?p=faq it should be application based.

thnx but it didnt work, it still gives the same error connection problem when logging into windows live

maybe its not using my proxy thats the problem, could something be wrong with windows live?

GFWL/RGSC can be offline at times, but I doubt you're facing that problem at this time.

You'll probably have to play around with the FreeCap application, you'll have to rerout both GFWL and RGSC through it. I have no idea currently how to do that nor if it's even doable, but like I said, you'll have to fiddle with it for a while.

The only problem is finding which exact binaries do you need to select for FreeCap to reroute the traffic for.
GTAIV.exe is the probable candidate
LaunchGTAIV.exe shouldn't need to be added
paul.dll may need to be added, it's the RGSC application
xlive.dll is the GFWL library, so it should also be added

You should test FreeCap firstly on firefox, to see if everything checks out.

Is it absolutely mecessary to use a proxy ? They are downright nightmares when it comes to peer to peer systems like the gfwl mp system. You might actually be able to use the rockstar social club using a proxy, but GFWL might give you problems. Do you control the proxy yourself or is externally controlled ?
