To me (after buying the game) I realised it was totally not worth the A$15 (tightass?). Is this the worst game of the GTA 3 era?

The worst GTA III Era is GTA Advance.
Minor edit:Besides, LCS has a good storyline, why don't you like it?
Well, of course, not outranking Vice city and San Andreas but LCS(overall) has a good storyline. It(well in my opinion), it may have fewer features but it has a better storyline than VCS.(I'm not saying VCS is bad, of course it has a better storyline then gta advance.)

Liberty City Stories wasn't bad game and in terms of status it should take place similar to GTA III. GTA III was first TPP GTA game in the series (I can't say it was first 3d) and GTA:LCS was first TPP and 3d GTA game on portable console (not like these abominations made on GBC). GTA:LCS mixed well known city with better mechanics taken from GTA:VC, it has nice mafia themed (first in the series) storyline, nice soundtrack, nice new cars and interesting characters. Only things that could be better was voice-acting (lack of almost every voice known from III except Vincent) and lenght of missions (but they supposed to be short since the game was made for handheld).

Worst in the GTA III era is definitely GTA:A, which was an abomination in GTA series.

In terms of story, I liked it. I liked both LCS and VCS because they explain and elaborate on the characters and story of both GTA III and VC. Now, when you go back to play them, you have some insight. Plus, you have to keep in mind that this game was made originally for the PSP, so I'm sure there were some limitations that the developers had to work with.

No, the worst is GTA Advance.

The GBA can handle 3D in Third-Person View (although the draw distance would be incredibly small), yet, they badly-made the game in top-down view which is worse than the first 4 games of the series.

In the other hand, GTA LCS was a FTW, it had a pretty good story, vehicles (the goddamn motorbikes and helicopters were finally in Liberty City, yay) and etc..., however, LCS has it's flaws, due to the limitations of the PSP.

While LCS isn't my favourite GTA I don't think it's the "worst". On the contrary it's a good game for what R* were trying to do with it, but yeah not really my cup of coffee.

Game is good, the story tell us, why they aren't bikes in GTA III, or why is construction site in Fort Stauton. And more. Game is better than GTA III, because LCS is mix GTA III with most features seen in VC and some features from SA like camera or waypoint on map.

Really though, SA set the bar pretty high:
Cj can swim above and below - Toni drowns on the beach.

Cj can crouch and move about - Toni looks like he has four legs during a sprint.

Cj can recruit 7 gang members - Toni get shot by his own family if he bumps into their cars

There's hundreds of things SA has that LCS doesn't.

Flight
Weapon and driving skills
Customised clothing
Girlfriends
Turf wars
A normal looking tank
Dozens of interiors
Multiple Assets
Gambling

I would list all of them but I'd need to replace my keyboard several times...

But yes, I agree with you on "Hostile Leones", I seriously don't know why the Leones attack you if you try to hit on them.

Liar, you can fly in LCS, the helicopter is available in some missions and/or witth the use of trainers(and using the trainer you can even get the Dodo).

Though the game would have been better with a readily accessible chopper or two.

LCS is by far NOT the worst game of the GTA3 era, however it does feel fairly recycled. It's kinda like GTA3 on a newer engine.
