One dimension has only one axis, which makes it a line. You think of 2D, which has X and Y axis, thus giving a plane.

But if that line has any sort of width then it's 2D.

I line has no width. It's a line, a section between two points. Of course we can talk about exceptions but theoretically a line is a straight series of single points.

i know that feel. i mean isn't this just the worst looking tree

In all seriousness though, RDR really made vast strides in bringing us a shrubbery and if gta V makes them even a little better looking, i'll be blown away

Haha I love the tree joke. Although I doubt most people on this forums have even a slight clue about what point you were making.

Blame society for making ignorant masses. I was at a theme park once, and they had a "4D shrek" feature film. I was like how on earth would they make it 4D. Turns out it was just 3D with some special effects like water squirting on us and the chairs shaking. dozingoff.gif

I bet you wish that shrek film was really 4d. That way it'd be over as soon as it started
(Note, I have the vaguest idea about the theory of the 4th dimension)

Back on topic: trees will look great. I bet my copy of the game on it

Trees weren't really that important in GTAIV because it was a very urban environment. It's logical that they'll improve them for a countryside area. Also, I seem to be one of the rare people here who thinks that the trees in GTAIV weren't really that bad. Maybe they're different in console versions?

Well, they are not 1d but they are 2d. They are called NPC's and I am 100% sure any game developer will use it to prevent possible lag. Yes, they can improve them, but you know how it is.

Notice how many trees where actually in IV, there are many. Urban areas have many trees and vegetation. GTA clearly has this weak spot and it's letting everything else down graphically. Such an eye soar is important to address.

EDIT : Yes i suspect they are worse on the console versions... The versions i play.

Im hoping that R* will fix that because its annoying in IV and previous GTA'S.

Yup. It really ruins the realism. RDR did better so maybe they'll be improved this time around.

Also, 1d would be like... impossible.

what realism? lol dont you mean immersion

I hate to make too many comparisons to Max Payne 3, but judging by the animations of the various shrubbery and plantation that Max rustles through, the vegetation has been vastly improved within the game engine. Not sure how much of this will transfer into GTAV, but I imagine in the "surrounding areas" of the map is where the difference may be seen when compared with other games.
