For those not aware rockstar ran a contest in the run up to IV where you could record your own voice in the hopes of inclusion in the final game. With alot of games using community content these days thought it would be good to start getting a collection of funny saying sounds made by members posted here in the hopes Rockstar may include it in the game. Make them funny and maybe a tad strange should be good for a laugh more than anything cheesy vaginas anyone?

I doubt they'll do this again. Rockstar Games has way enough employees and voice actors to do pedestrian audio.

Its a big if but if they can pull from community sources then it saves them troubling there employees! The big question is do you want to turn down the chance of getting a voice in gta if they do decide to use it?

I'll elaborate then.

- Humour is something Rockstar does very well, and I doubt they need our input to make the game funnier.
- The stark contrast between the dark story and the silliness of the in-game commercials, TV shows, internet pages and pedestrian dialogue (or monologue, if you will) is something IV has received criticism for, with good reason.
- I hope programming on V has past the point where pedestrian dialogue had to be written and implemented.
- This would mean it would take longer for V to come out.
In short, no.

Whatever OP said is not true. First of, there was no such thing as a contest for GTA IV, I'm 99% sure of it. What I remember, though, was a dedicated website to WKTT, an in-game station, well you could send your own voice to an automated mailbox.

You really think Rockstar will include some low-quality voice from someone who probably recorded it with a potato? They did it with WKTT (just before GTA IV was released) but I don't even think some voices made into the final version of the game. They could do it because the way the voice sounds (all low-fi, as when you leave the message) on a telephone suits the radio.

I'm actually going to give you a decent reply.

It would be a cool little novelty, but as pointed out the issue would be sound quality. If i record the funniest line ever via a crap mic, into a low bitrate file, how could they use it?

The only option would be to do a competition for the winners (10 or so) to visit a recording studio and put the vocals down there - Didn't they do a competition where the winner went out to LA to meet them?

It'd be pretty cool having some fans in GTA, but if it would affect quality in any way shape or form, then it wouldnt be a good idea.

I once did voice overs for Ikea the game. It was hella fun. It was my harlequin talent that Unlockstar noticed and picked me to Do the voice for Dog walker 4 in GTA V.
