i had purchased gta iv yesterday and installed it, with the social club and whatever bs you need to install with it. i have 7 32bit and i cant get the game to start up. when i double click the launcher a command prompt briefly comes and goes then fatal error rmn40. i tried to launch it in compatibility mode for xp sp2/ and 3 and with that it say fatal error ws10.

very infuriating when i cant find anything to fix this issue, besides people saying to run it in xp2 or xp3.wont work for me. i am not a big modding person just want to enjoy the game first then worry about adding stuff

Is that a legal game copy?
Do you have some disk imaging software installed, like daemon tools?
Have you installed this GFWL update?
There should be a VC++ libraries package on the game disk, file named vc_setup.exe or something of the likes. Make sure you install it, Securom needs those to run properly.

it is a legal copy yes. i do have daemon tools yes. aside from that i do not know what vc++ is or if i had instaled the gfwl update. the copy i have is literally just bought brand new.

Uninstall daemon tools.

VC++ libraries are just what I said: a vc_setup.exe file (or some similar file name) that can be found on the game disk. Probably in the redistributables folder on disk 1.

daemon tools is gone. it boots up and i get the 2 rockstar logos and then the game freezes. also done the games for windows update

This is a GFWL related problem. If you at any time will want to play online you'll have to fix it somehow. Probably more info can be had on the xbox forums.

Done Now go like a man and open GTA IV
