 Internal theme tune?

Well we've all got those songs we listen to that we think just fit us as people, perhaps it is the lyrics, the music, what the band stands for and expresses through their music. Whatever it is, surely there's a song or two that you can relate to or you consider to be an extension of yourself. Do you have an internal theme tune? Two that I think reflect who I am are:

People have told me this song reminds them of myself. They say it's because of my ability to keep cool in more than panic-inducing situations. This song really does hit home with me as I grew up listening to it, and I do indeed seem to have some sort of detached attentive attitude to things that are normally frowned upon. Including car crashes, and other stuff. dozingoff.gif

Another:

This song I think reflects my detached view from things. At times I feel very cut off from the social norm, I kind of float around a lot and don't seem to be interested in such things that others are. I think this song best reflects my cynical personality at times.

Anybody else?

Well I'm not to sure about songs that reflect my personality, the only one I can really think of was a song that I listened to as a child, that my ma' has now labeled me with in a way, as she claims I'm very much an arsonist, which I'm not (okay maybe a bit, but nothing to be concerned about tounge2.gif ) is this one:

But for personal theme songs, yes I have two (well three but I'm debating on the third one). Those themes are:

The first theme I absolutely, madly, love so much that I carry it as a theme tune.
The second theme is just something about it that I really like and carry as a second theme, probably because it works well with driving and city/environment shots.

*Third song will be posted on request*

I'd imagine some members are probably getting sick and tired of me posting these songs all the time. biggrin.gif

All of them are brilliant songs. I love classic Prodigy! Breathe and Smack my Bitch Up made my childhood! inlove.gif

What's the third song? biggrin.gif

Ah, now the third song is sort of an odd one. It is:

Now I will explain.
The reason why I think that this could become a rival theme song for myself is because it is very upbeat/uptempo/what have you - positive in simple terms and that is one of my key character traits, positive (or at least always trying to be positive). And also it is kind of very "patriotic" which on some days I feel that I am (depending on my mood you see).

There you have it really. music.gif

I'm not a very talkative person in real life, so i guess my personality would be mostly instrumentals.
I'm more of a "let the actions do the talking" kinda guy so these 2 songs would define my personality the most.

First off all, very nice topic. And second of all, the song I'm spiritually related to is definitely ''End of the beginning'' by Jason Becker.

Curious topic.

I don't know. It depends on my mood. Though my personality doesn't often change necessarily, I come across as a different person through what mood I'm in. If I'm calm and mellow, I'll come across as quiet and reclusive. If I'm in a good mood, I don't shut up. If I had to pick an internal theme tune though, it'd have to be this song.

Rawr.

But this one would probably be the best contendor because of lyrics, composition and tone; it initially has this groove to it but has this undertone of desparity and struggle, lyrically describing someone who spends his time thinking - mostly of big ideas - while in a very constrictive, difficult life.

Don't really have one only, I have one for each mood I'm in though.

When I feel like the king of the world, like when I'm unstoppable and surrounded by awesomeness

When I feel drastically evil, when I feel like I did something badass

Lastly, when I feel like death. But no, not sad death. It's more like I'm so happy that I could die now. It's like I live my life to the fullest.

I dunno, I've always been able to relate to Jesus of Suburbia's persona and the stuff he goes through in American Idiot. I hardly believe I can get sick of this song, ever, listening to it always cheers me up and helps me accept myself as who I am.

Imagine by John Lennon comes to my mind, it pretty much sums up my main "beliefs" about the world. I don't listen to Lennon and that's probably the only song I know and heard from him, I also barely know anything about him but judging from the lyrics of that song I suppose he was an anarchist and atheist\agnostic like me.

I can't really think of any other songs.

I'd probably have to go with Feeling the Moment by Feeder. The song is about reflecting, which is something that I seem to spend a lot of time doing in both my professional and personal life. Parts of the song are about dealing with loss as well, so as stupid as it sounds, I've kinda felt a connection to the second verse lyrics since losing my father back in 2009.

I feel like this, sometimes.

Guns N' Roses
Coma

Hey you caught me in a coma
And I don't think I wanna
Ever come back to this...world again
Kinda' like it in a coma
'Cause no one's ever gonna
Oh, make me come back to this...world again

Now I feel as if I'm floating away
I can't feel all the pressure and I like it this way
But my body's calling
My body's calling
Won't you come back to this...world again

Suspended deep in a sea of black
I've got the light at the end
I've got the bones on the mast
Well I've gone sailing, I've gone sailing
I could leave so easily
While friends are calling back to me
I said they're
They're leaving it all up to me
When all I needed was clarity
And someone to tell me what the f**k is going on
Goddamn it!

Slipping farther an' farther away
It's a miracle how long we can stay
In a world our minds created
In a world that's full of s**t

Help me
Help me
Help me
Help me
B**tard

Please understand me
I'm climbing through the wreckage
Of all my twisted dreams but this cheap
Investigation just can't stifle all my screams and I'm
Waiting at the crossroads
Waiting for you
Waiting for you
Where are you?

No one's gonna bother me anymore
No one's gonna mess with my head no more
I can't understand what all the fighting's for
But it's so nice here down off the shore
I wish you could see this 'cause there's nothing to see
It's peaceful here and it's fine with me
Not like the world where I used to live
I never really wanted to live

Zap him again
Zap the son of a b**ch again

You live your life like it's a coma
So won't you tell me why we'd wanna
With all the reasons you give it's
It's kind of hard to believe
But who am I to tell you that I've
Seen any reason why you should stay
Maybe we'd be better off
Without you anyway

You got a one way ticket
On your last chance ride
Got a one way ticket
To your suicide
Got a one way ticket
And there's no way out alive

And all this crass communication
That has left you in the cold
Isn't much for consolation
When you feel so weak and old
But is home is where the heart is
Then there's stories to be told
No you don't need a doctor
No one else can heal your soul
Got your mind in submission
Got your life on the line
But nobody pulled the trigger
They just stepped aside
They be down by the water
While you watch em' waving goodbye
They be calling in the morning
They be hanging on the phone
They be waiting for an answer
But you know nobody's home
And when the bells stopped ringing
It was nobody's fault but your own
There were always ample warnings
There were always subtle signs
And you would have seen it coming
But we gave you too much time
And when you said
That no one's listening
Why'd your best friend drop a dime
Sometimes we get so tired of waiting
For a way to spend our time
And "It's so easy" to be social
"It's so easy" to be cool
Yeah it's easy to be hungry
When you ain't got sh*t to lose
And I wish that I could help you
With what you hope to find
But I'm still out here waiting
Watching reruns of my life
When you reach the point of breaking
You know it's going to take some time
To heal the broken memories
That another man would need
Just to survive

Like that choice, but for me, at least two songs, The Who I mentioned before, and Tesla's Don't DEROCK Me... Dokken had a song about only wanting to rock, and of course I WANNA ROCK by Twisted Sister, it's that spirit of a rock show you never want to leave behind, just live the music 24-7, that and as I mentioned, people judging others, not cool. Pete Townshend wrote "Don't Even Know Myself" based on tabloid news about him and the band WAY way back when. Still true to today, and in Michael Jackson's time, where he wrote a song about the gossip news media and how it didn't reflect the true human at the center of it all.
