Just been playing the Spec Ops: The Line demo. 2K (take two).
There's a feature that, by tapping UP on the Dpad, will attach a silencer to you weapons, you see him screw it on

Weve seen them on the trailer and I think that's how they'll work

Apologies if it's been pointed out already, I havnt seen it I that's the case.

Rainbow 6 does the same thing. I think that would be an interesting feature, I was surprised to see the suppressed AK in the trailer, seems like a complete departure from the lack of silencers in IV. I would still probably just use it for the pistol for nostalgia sake.

The problem here is which control it will be assigned to. Up on the d pad brings up the cell phone, left and right change weapons, LB is the action button, Y is the second action button, B is for melee and cinematic camera, X jumps and switches weapons in car, A sprints and is a handbrake button, RB does cover and is also a handbrake button, Left trigger is brake and reverse and aim, RT is gas and fire gun, select switches the camera, start pauses, Right stick click zooms and does rear view, left stick click crouches and honks the horn, and so on. Only one I can think of as available is down on the D pad if you can take losing the stat and location check button.

LB could act as a modifier. Up- call taxi/ phone. LB+up - silencer if guns drawn.
It could be AIM and up
I think V will change the control layout a little.

I imagine it could be as I said a modifier

Up-phone/taxi
Down-zoom map
Left/right-change weapon.

LB+up-put on sunglasses
LB+down, put up hood/put on hat/mask
LB+left-put up umbrella
LB+right-auto select favourite gun

LT+up, attach silencer
LT+down -toggle gun torch
LT+left/right, auto select SMG/pistol

I'm aware IV uses LB as a modifier to quick select weapon but that's just an example. It can be done

The silencer won't be something you screw on. It should be a weapon you purchase as such. Eg Pistol, pistol with silencer, AK47, AK47 with silencer etc
this will add more variety for those stealth missions which may be in gta v

How would this in anyway be better? You get the same result and you don't have to lug around too many version of the same gun. it's easier if you can just buy a silencer for a certain type of weapon (automatic weapons, pistols, etc.) and be able to screw that on when you need it (like you would in real-life as you take it off if you don't need it silenced). If you can put it on whenever you want you can more dynamically react to a situation (taking out a guard, then removing the silencer because you know there's going to be a big firefight in which you need accuracy not silence, as a silencer makes a gun less accurate). If you have to choose between one and the other it'll stay a gimmick and hardly ever be used, like the SA silenced pistol.

About silencer makes the gun less accurate, you got that wrong, most silencer even extend accuracy and bullet travel, at least that's what i read. But in order to eliminate any
noise, besides suppressor subsonic ammunition must be used, which will make gun have less range i think.

Now if there is something like this in game i would be very happy:

Those could work, I'm not allways a fan of modifires but if it's streamlined enough I'd like it. Though I'd love to be able to reattach and unatach silencers, though I'd get just as much, if not more entertainment, from putting on, and removing my glasses, and making cheap one liners. *Blows up a car* "It just got hot in here" *Puts on Aviators.*

I just hope that the Silencers are sign of a competent stealth system that useful for more than just one mission unlike SA, where it was there, and rarely if ever used again.

Sorry for quite train but he's right
Silencers do make guns more accurate. Something to do with the way the bullet travels inside it.

Hmm. I don't know about having a modifier button for use with the same hand as the button you are modifying. That is going to be awkward.

Most games I have played use two hands. RDR springs to mind with the weapon selection. LB to bring up the control and R-Stick to select weapon. Having said that left and right d-pad are used to choose a sub weapon.

I think they should let us plug in a USB keyboard and then we'd have all the buttons we need.

Silencers would have to mean that AI enemies don't have some kind of inert psychic ability to sense a disturbance in the force and know your exact location at all times. So i hope they will be in the single player.

Also, i hope they don't make a realistic noise. I would prefer if they made the 'pew pew' noise they make in films

To about 3 people up there ^

A suppressed firearm must be accompanied by subsonic ammunition to get the desired effect of a quiet gun. Using subsonic ammunition means the bullet will travel slower and thus fall quicker relative to its forward travel. While its range is decreased, however, its accuracy is increased due to the suppressor removing hot gases from around the bullet in a uniform fashion.

That's what i said, basically suppressor is useless without subsonic ammunition. So we could have option to put suppressor for stealthy approach to missions but with penalty to range, which won't mean much IMO.

Seems like a good idea. In regards to controls, I really doubt V will keep the same control scheme...
The stories games shifted weapon control from the shoulder buttons to the D-Pad, and I think we'll see it shift from the D-Pad to a weapon wheel like in Red Dead and Max Payne - it's the logical next step, because selecting weapons absolutely sucks in GTA.
You could even have it that when you bring up the weapon wheel, and press a certain button over a weapon it modifies the attachment; ie - screwing the silencer on/off.

In regards to people talking about technicalities such as range, ammo etc - who cares? This is GTA not Arma. While it may be more accurate to include these features, who wants the hassle of it during gameplay? Streamline it.
