OK, so first of all, I KNOW this subject has been brought to attention several times, but even with all the Googling, I STILL didn't see anything useful on how to resolve it...
I've been playing EFLC for quite a while now, I own both EFLC AND GTAIV, both legal copies, bought on Amazon.
After all this time, I finally decided to try my luck with multiplayer, so I created my new Windows Live account, this time real, online (instead of offline one) and registered at Rockstar's official page.
Let's just say that things didn't work out the way I expected... First of all, it asked me to update my Games for Windows Live, then it wiped out ALL my savegames, and caused dozens of other issues. I tried to restore everything back, deleted my Live account, switched it back for off-line one, even re-installed the entire game, nothing seems to be working. I DO have my savegames, I have them backed up, but apparently I forgot to backup Live folder, which means I can no longer load any of them
To make things even worse, XLIVELESS mod doesn't seem to be working for me. It's supposed to write/load savegames from My Documents folder, right? Well, it's not. Live isn't working, that's for sure, but savegames are STILL being used from it's original path, AppData\Local\Rockstar Games or whatever.
So, can someone PLEASE help me out before I toss the entire GTA out the window? Frankly speaking, I've had enough of Rockstar & their Piracy protections, apparently it's causing MORE problems to legitimate users than it's causing to those who downloaded the game on Torrent *sigh*
